Life isn't easy, it's not always fair. This country is worth fighting for, if you don't believe that then you have a choice. Yes you're right, I do have a choice. I have a choice to voice my opinion that I don't agree with some of the decisions our policitians make.
Stoke_Gifford_Red
By the looks of the "breaking news" of the probable terrorist attack in Leytonstone, it appears the repercussions have already started. I won't get into the debate over whether this is more or less than it would be if we hadn't bombed!

You certainly do and you get to do it once every 4-5 years, after that you have to behave and take what happens on the chin.

These must be the ones who still have jobs then! Have you spoken to the ones who 'used' to be in these professions? but lost their jobs through government cuts or were made redundant, or have left ( nurses ) to work abroad?. Most of the people I know in those sort of jobs are struggling with rent, and very few, if any have mortgages etc unless they happen to be in a relationship with a "high earner" or have parental assistance. Then again, most people in my generation are struggling with housing costs.

Well we probably both disagree in our own way with the Government's course of action. I would have liked to have seen a modern professional army move in a long time ago and wipe out these scumbags that destroy World Heritage sites, throw gays from rooftops, behead anyone that disagrees with their vile beliefs etc. etc. Even now I've heard military people say it would take but a few months for a modern professional army. As for the rant you've put your name too well it would take too long to pick it apart point by point but it does seem odd to say the least that there are millions of people clamouring to get into what is a dismal, hell-hole of a country from the picture you paint. However, the bit that genuinely sickened me, I struggle to believe you have put your name to it, along with those that 'liked' it, is where you compare the plight of women in this country that might or might not have had a child out of wedlock because of a rape, with the desparate circumstances of Yazidi women used as rape fodder by those brave young jihadists of ISIL. And it's not just the young women that are effected because I'm sure you have read what happens to the older ladies these brave young men have no use for. Well it begins with them digging a large hole....and ends with them being buried alive. There is a poster on here, not sure who, pouring scorn on Hilary Benn's suggestion that ISIL could be compared to the Natonal Socialists in Germany. Well if forcing the Yazidi onto a mountain top in the blazing heat with no food or water isn't strong enough evidence I don't know what is...I've said enough, I'm about to boil over. Dollymarie
I'm not comparing the two. The rape of women wherever they are sickens me. I'm just trying to say we should get our own house in order, when the government are clearly lying and saying we've got no money left, but then throwing hundreds of thousands at bombing others. We've been the worlds leading democracy for hundreds of years - what will ever constitute 'getting our own house in order'. We live in a society where lots of people are never satisfied, and never will be satisfied. Unless they have what David Beckham has got, why should they be satisfied? The point is the UN has said help these poor people, by any means. Refugees, people with no homes, victims of murdering bastards. That is more important than the local bloody library. "Perspective" it is called. Uncle TFR

Syria is 68th in the world in oil production, a nice wedge of cash for them I'm sure, but not worth the cost or effort for the US/UK to bother with. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_oil_production Production numbers aside, I don't believe western intervention is happening for the sole reason of liberation/humanitarian aid. They musty have vested interests surely?
