A message from West Midlands Police

With elections due soon for Bristol Mayor and A&S Police Commissioner after years and years of WMPolice/City Fan controversy the time couldn't have been better to have tried to get George F and Sue Mount Stevens to travel incognito with a Club/SCaT delegation on a supporters train/coach etc to witness first hand what may or may not occur at the hands of WMP.

If genuine reason to complain regarding treatment of travelling fans is witnessed, publicised and official complaints filed by the respective offices there's little doubt people that matter would be forced to acknowledge, respond & act upon such allegations and complaints.

Its a shame something like this hasn't been arranged (I presume?) as politically the timing could only benefit both incumbents in upcoming elections... can't think of a better 'lever' or persuader than the possibility of increasing favourable public perceptions and influencing several thousand potential ballot papers for people in GFs and SM's position to get involved.

Too late now, maybe one for the future? ....

Nothing will change in the WMP tactics unless high profile publicity highlights the over zealous (borderline illegal activities) of some within their ranks.. decent football fans deserve decent treatment, no better or worse than any other members of the public.

For me personally the police's job is to police. Just because I go to a football match does not make me a hooligan or a criminal. If there is disorder or people playing up then I support the police taking action. However, sending a note / memo or whatever like that is just wrong. Do they issue this every week night to those people or go out for a drink in Birmingham city centre, or any other city centre in the west Midlands? Sure they have disorder on a weekend night?

I have recently sat across a table from a Police officer in a police station actively encouraging me to wear a body camera and covertly film somebody who they wanted to arrest for crimes against me. He explained in detail how to cover the red light which showed it was recording and explained 'we do it all the timeespecially in crowds, down town and at football matches'.

They need to wake up "minority" there's 5,300 going and there will be 10% that if provoked or get the opportunity will wick right off.

Id imagine like BRum earlier this season, we will have an escort all the way, be stop and searched at least twice and the coaches made clear of any alcohol or be turned back, then you've got the unwitnessed coach search where it's been rumoured that drugs have been planted in order to send the coached back to Bristol.

Itl will undoubtedly kick off, proved by the scum that are WMP, coked up of their tits looking to strike out at anyone over 3 years olds, old ladies and women watch out especially, this lot are more cowardly than the Gas.

Surely 530 is a minority though?

Putting my profession and employer to one side...

You'll excuse me if I find the above a little rich coming from the poster I most associate with football hooliganism. Over the years (in your many guises) you've spouted an awful lot of pro hooligan/anti police ramblings.

The message put out is largely because of people like you. So please don't come the victim and talk so much shit.

Don't let them convince you that they can make you delete any footage/imagery either, they have no powers to do so.

Make sure your wi-fi is on and upload any footage to the Cloud automatically

Then even if they delete the footage from your phone you still secretly have it

Why is the message put out then?

It appears deliberately antagonistic and designed to create an 'us and them' tension between supporters and police.

Do they post warning messages to shops selling vest tops that "wife beaters" will face legal action?

As I discovered on my last trip to Birmingham, you are not allowed to drink in the city centre streets, further confirming what a festering cess pit Birmingham is.

Did you not get the memo from west Midlands police when you booked hotel, train tickets. Thought it was a compulsory memo all visitors receive

I know a number of fans who were innocently turned away from the Birmingham game earlier this season and the majority of them have chosen to give this game a miss, 100% because of the actions of the West Midlands ****stabulary that day.

It's great that we have 5,300 going, cuz we're missing at least 3 dozen who are regular away travellers who aren't going to this one, myself included.

When are we going to get the first story of wrongful arrest/heavy handedness?  I'm going for about 4.49pm on Sat.

Wasn't it pre kickoff at Brum this season and Walsall some years back?

I would imagine being a copper can be a very tough job. However, my previous experiences with the West Midlands police force at football leads me to believe you lot are in for a spot of bother whether you want it or not.

I read that message as 'We're right up for this one'

Good luck to those travelling tomorrow (except on the pitch obviously!)

And can I just add btw, I was chatting to a City mate today who tells me you are taking over 5000 tomorrow, which I admit is pretty impressive, and may even get close to what we will be taking to Barnet tomorrow.

So basically saying that city fans are going to be kettled together together in a police escort as soon as we arrive in Birmingham. What a fun day out this is going to be...

Possibly better than being allowed to freely enjoy Birmingham.
