If he's to bring anyone from Barnsley it has to be Alfie Mawson, would be perfect with Flint.

I keep banging on about him I know but I`d have Conor Hourihane in an instant. Far too good for league 1. Him, Mawson and Winnall would be a great package and I reckon would only set us back 3-3.5 at the most.

Over the summer, I didn't think Matt Smith was the right player to go for....cue poor recruitment.

Then when this window opened, I thought he'd be a good choice with the way we are playing, and might need to play to battle it out....cue change of manager (head coach) and enter Lee Tomlin.

Ultimately it's about getting players in to compliment what you've got or how you want to play.

I'd take the Barnsley trio though....and you're right, they wouldn't cost much in the overall scheme.

Even if he plays not a single minute more for Fulham this season, I do not see Matt Smith moving to us in loan.

With Fulham having slipped below us after their loss to Boro yesterday, I cannot see the benefit to them of lending any help to a fellow relegation threatened team (which it is clear they are if we still are).

I don't buy the concept we couldn't afford his wages, as come next year and our increased capacity I think we'll be competitive on that front, and I personally think he would be an asset at this level to us, and I also think the successful spell he had at the club last year would be a real bonus in trying to persuade him to move here.

However; it would be foolish to the point of negligence by his current club to let him go right now to us.  Better wait until summer when they'll be desperate to sell and shift players off the wage bill in order to avoid sanctions again, and to allow the new man to build.  I cannot see Smith wanting to stay another season there when he will obviously once again be a 4th or 5th choice striker, and what with his former manager now at the helm here, as well as many players he knows, I think that if we are still in this league we'd be a good option for him.

While I agree with most of this, I think it's all down to perspective. If Fulhams sole aim is to stay up then all they need to do is ( the same as we do) finish outside the bottom 3, if they look down they probably think they will and to be fair they should. If they can shift some wages then why not.

Thing is Smith may not even be on our list any more, LJ clearly has his own plans and he's already said priority would be a quick striker. I think , if Fulham stay up or not, the plan would be rebuild. If MS isn't good enough for the bench now, then with money from at least 2 big transfers out I can't see he'd be their go to guy to improve next year, more than one manager has ignored him.

Since Cott's left our recruitment has been pretty good , and as MS hasn't arrived yet could mean he won't  but these things are prone to change so who knows.

Would have a few more I'd say with an experienced/proven striker for him to play off.I'm concerned Lee is going to leave this one until close season-with a knock or two and a dodgy few games results wise this could be major problem in the making...

Completely agree, leaving scoring to a central defender and a striker, either of which could get injured at anytime is madness and I'm sure that the wee man knows this and is doing his best to get quality cover for JK in.

If JK happened to pick up an injury ruling him out for the rest of the season then relying on Agard, Burns and Alby would make life very difficult, why risk it when we CAN bring in a striker (if ones available).

I think Smith (if fit) has to start against Cardiff as the quality they have all over the park is not true to their league position, their midfield is extremely strong and although we should have beaten them comfortably at Lego Land, they a completely different outfit now and I think they'll easily finish in the play offs.

I don't think the Cardiff team from yesterday is good enough to make the playoffs, but they don't lose many, so have a chance.  A few Cardiff fans at work are amazed they are so high up the table.

Pilkington is a very, very good player....he will be the one to get hold of next week.

The Smith one is tricky for Fulham. If they go down they`ll have to have a clearout but would look at him and see a player that`s done it in League 1. They`ve got no chance of keeping McCormick or Dembele so could see him as one to hang on to. I`d love him here though.

Hasn't he just signed a new long term contract with Fulham?

Never come across this 3-3-5 formation. Could work I suppose.

I think the key is if we can pick up an experienced young ball winning goal scoring attacking holding midfielder, with pace to burn who can play down either wing and head crosses into the onion bag and is a dead ball specialist.

Perhaps offer a pay as you play deal?
