Robbored
Indeed it is very sad. Reminds me of Jeff Astle who died of a brain disease thought to be brought on by heading wet, heavy footballs.
oldstandrobin
I used to work with a lady who's husband played for Watford in the 60's and he couldnt work or go out as he had Alzheimers which she said was due to him being an inside forward and regularly heading the ball which of course was a lot heavier in those days. Luckily my experience when I played as a winger meant I very rarely headed a ball but can still remember it hurting when you did connect with the lace !!! Cider red
They think by 2030, over 50% of adults over 60 will suffer with dementia. No news here just that a large proportion if older adults get alzheimers and other forms of dementia
roylegalatyeo
Unfortunately this has been known for years. Our own 1960s centre half Jack Connor died 10 years ago from dementia. Also proved there is a link with parkinsons disease, Chris Garland and Ray Kennedy are 2 former players to suffer from this terrible disease.
