Thierry Henry - Amazing

Dunno how may forum users watched the Arsenal v Milan on TV tonight but what a result for the Gunners 5-1 in Italy.

Someone recently but a thread on here asking what we love about football - well watching Thierry Henry tonight summed that up for me.He was tremendous, brilliant amazing, superb.

Scored two stunning goals and set up another two.The Italians had no answer to his pace and trickery.Steve Bruce reckoned Henry the best player in the world - after tonights show many more would agree with him.

His first goal was a cool 18 yard side foot and his second a driven cross shot to the far corner after skinning the defenders.I can't recall the last I've been so impressed by an individual performance.

I really hope City can past B'ley and draw the Gunners in the Cup.... :Party27:

Agree - Definitely the best player in the world and a real credit to the game for the way he plays it.

The way the Inter players just gave up after the third goal went in was below pathetic and something we are just not accustomed to in this country.

Henry meanwhile was superb - that third goal (his 2nd) was simply sublime. Also a note to Freddie Ljungberg for his part in the 4th goal - a definite deliberate dummy to set up Edu.

Magic. If Arsenal's squad had a little more depth to it then they'd be consistently challenging for all the top honours in the club game.

Round 3 of the Cup at Highbury or the Gate would be fantastic.

2nite was the best game of football ive wwatched in a long time.Being the only Arsenal fan in a pub full of manure and scouse fans cheering on inter was even better!

Henry is easly the best player in the world. As for the rumors about him being unsettled he last week signed a 2 year extension to his contract so it is total rubbish!

Best player in the world (probably), but the way Tyldsley + Atkinson were almost ####ping themselves with joy at everything he did was vomit-inducing.

I think recent results might have disproved the theory that Italian defences are the best in the world:

Juventus 0-3 Man United

Lazio 0-4 Chelsea

Inter 1-5 Arsenal

The last twelve games between English and italian clubs in Italy. since 98/99.

Inter 1-5 Arsenal (a new record)

Lazio 0-4 Chelsea (a new record)

Juve 0-3 Man utd(a new record)

inter 2-2 Newcastle

Roma 1-3 Arsenal (a new record)

juve 2-0 Newcastle

roma 0-0 Liverpool

lazio 1-1 arsenal

roma 0-2 liverpool

lazio 0-0 chelsea

juventus 2-3 man utd

inter 1-1 man utd

Only a total fool would argue that Henry is anything other than a fantastic footballer and one of the most dangerous forwards currently playing the game. But two cracking goals against a seriously ropey Internazionale team, who were given a hiding by Lokomotiv Moscow a few weeks ago and have hardly put a foot right since they gave Arsenal a taste of their own medicine in September, do not make him the greatest player in the world.

Ummmmmmm, he has been different class for the past 2 years now and is great with the ball, it's almost laughable you say That, Zanetti is a world class defender, Henry passed him as if he wern't there, Henry makes lots of assists, creates space, turns defenders, and finishing from him is a different class.

INTER MILAN 1-5 ARSENAL WITH 6 PLAYERS OUT

EAT THAT.

inter's tactics were a total embarassment, and a shocking indictment of the supposed defensive nous of the club that made cattenacio famous.

They didn't know that Arsenal don't play with a targetman centre forward, but instead Henry, Pires and Ljungberg would be attacking from deep, so the three centre halves stood there, like the maginot line, while henry et al ran into the enormous gaps between the wingbacks and the centre halves. the last four goals all came from this route.

Without Vieira and Silva, Arsenal couldn't completely control midfield so the game looked to be in the balance, when really it wasn't.

They sat back and drew inter onto them knowing that Inter weren't good enough to score, and that they would be leaving huge gaps at the back.

The arsenal system is based around the individual brilliance of their players, rather than any particular structure, and when it works, their players look absolutely brilliant like last night. When it doesn't work they look awful and they don't qualify for the quarter finals.

And while we're at it, where the hell has Henry been for the previous four games in the group, when Arsenal were getting rogered senseless by this less than wonderful Inter team on their own pitch, played against Lok Moscow and Kiev with all the fluency of condemned men with breeze-blocks chained to their ankles, and ultimately came within within an Ashley Cole fluke of elimination from the whole tournament? Henry turns it on like this in Europe once a year. Last season it was Roma; this year, Inter.

I've never seen him successfully attack a cross above waist height, or head the ball deliberately to a team mate under pressure, or score a goal with his head where the goalkeeper was in his goal. These are all really important attributes for a forward. You can't describe someone as a more complete forward if Gary ###### Doherty can do something as important, so much better than him.
