Hmmm .... isn't that exactly what SC did do?

Luke Ayling, Luke Freeman, Kieran Agard, Korey Smith?

All young players when signed. City have already made a profit on 2 of them, and Luke Freeman and Korey Smith have undoubtedly gone up in value too.

He signed experienced players like Wade and Wilbs. as well, precisely to get team balance with the young recruits, but considering how few players (comparatively) SC signed his record on bringing in young players with resale potential at City is excellent.

You can add Kodjia to the list - bought at a good age by SC who then started his development at City. This is the best bit of business completed by this club ever.

Bought for around €2M and sold for in excess of £11M

Our squad was ridiculously thin after going up and then not signing anyone. All the signings seemed good-decent when completed. Not all signings are gonna work out and that's football but it's still early days and most have age on there side.

The squad is looking tidy and with the new first team additions and hopefully one or 2 more we can consolidate a style of play and get some more points.

we survived relegation last year. And this years plan will be to hit mid table.

I'm not a LJ fan boy, but he needs time and he definitely needs support.

Not so sure Smith-the way he's played post injury looks like he has two left feet, and one two sizes larger than the other....

Could you identify the 16? The 3 we brought this Jan have only just joined so can't include them. Young players could go either way so it's hard to say, Magnusson and Brownhill have stood out as decent and promising, varied young players are loaned out so again an unknown quantity. The buying in bulk was a bit of a worry but I would struggle to think of 16 we can so far write off as average.

There were 11 Johnson signings in today's squad and another 6 who are either out on loan, injured or just cannot get in, so 17 in fact.

The league position and the results and the performances would suggest we have signed at best 17 very average players.

3 who have just joined no way is it fair to judge 2 games in. With foreign players especially it can take some while to adjust, sometimes a season.

Same goes for young players. Can take a while to gauge their true skill level or worth. This season is transitional in many ways.
