How is the team picked

Ok there's no game and it's a quiet news kind of day so I have a query which has been bugging me for a while now.

On match day, how is the team actually picked.

I was wondering if there is a small group including Lee, the various specialist coaches and maybe the club captain who meet and come to a democratic decision regarding the final team and shape etc for that particular game.

Or does Lee make the decision on his own and ignores the advice from the others.

I can't believe that it would a group decision that has led to some of the bizarre selections and strategies over the last few months.

Doesnt it smack of one person calling all the shots regarding selection and tactics.

Based upon some of the teams fielded and formations there can only be one way they choose the team ...names out of a hat.

They have several bowls, like when choosing the groups for the World Cup, and each one represents an area. 1 bowl for keepers, 1 for defenders and so on.

*edit - damn it. Engvall got there first whist I was slowly typing on the phone.

Pick my best mate first, then my second best mate, etc.  Once I have 11, then I pick a formation that fits.  Just like the school playground.

See I should be a football coach because whenever I was in charge of picking for a team I always picked the best striker first (the next person would always pick the big lad who should've been playing rugby) and then the next player I always picked was a shit hot goalie.

We even had some of the teachers in the other team but they were no match for my super striker and goalie.

When I was picking a team I couldn't pick the best striker as it was against the rules to try and pick yourself  ;)

Could we have a popularity survey on otib of  all the players available? We then send a list of the 11 most popular to LJ and he can choose their positions. Non of us will be able to complain then.

(Unless of course my favourite 11 doesn't match otib's!:shifty:)

I'd be great as a manager - at school I always used to pick the people I felt sorry for for my team, so those nerdy kids, the bullied, shy, crap at sports type... my teams used to rock so much that even the kids who never got picked and always dreamt of being picked first would try to hide in the background if I was made captain.
