Tears in rain
What is the job description for a director of football? Curious to what they actually do
...
Steve will not do it. He wants the control, so he gets in nice blokes who do what he wants. It's his club - in terms of ownership at least - so it's up to him. I am bollocks-sure City would do really well if only he would pay for a proper manager. He just won't release the reigns enough. tfj

BristolNorthEndRed
I may have this wrong; but; I thought the club is now structured in such a way that the jobs/tasks are in a way; modular. That is to say it is structured to simplify replacing modules without upsetting the whole staffing structure. If this is the case; then It follows that should the Head Coach ‘module’ require replacement; then swap it out.

shelts
The horse has already bolted. If Lee is sacked I see Pembo taking over. Holden will go as well. Me I'd like to see Gary O'Neil take over until the end of the season . Not gonna happen though
Robbored
It would make zero difference. it would only confuse the players as to is actually in charge. What the club needs is a fresh manager.
TrowVegasCidered
Considering the money spent, lansdowns thinking on basement bucket managers is surely flawed? when the betting odds come out for next manager it is always basement stuff? Why? lansdown won't pay? he doesnt see value? he only wants a yes man anyway? Come on Steve cough up for a respected manager.
lost black rat
I see 3 possible outcomes in getting a director of football in 1 no change we go down 2 it works we stay up 3 lee fills undermined and quits we get a new manager
Mr Popodopolous
Harry Redknapp if he would come here would be a great choice in that role I think. Vastly experienced, eye for a player, lots of contacts.
lost black rat
good call but transfer window is shut so would have to work with what we got
Mr Popodopolous
He could also advise LJ, pick up some very valuable knowhow.
ashton_fan
Mark Ashton covers most of the roles of a 'Director of Football', ie transfers and contracts for players, can't see what a new person would have left to do. From SL's interview looks like LJ is going to be with us for at least the next 2 games. I think he's gambling that if we get 4 or more points from those games then at least LJ won't get booed in the home game against Burton.
TrowVegasCidered
Lansdown will be are after a L1 manager he can order around. Not a proven championship / premier league manager! (Which is what we need)
