How far can we really claim to have come as a club since that point? Players are worse Atmosphere is far worse Attendances are similar Aspirations are the same And yet we keep getting fed the same old spiel about progress and how far we can go as a club. Madness. If we'd had as good a season as we had then, attendances would be significantly higher. And I'm not actually sure the players are worse, just appallingly managed. And herein lies the fans frustration and why I feel if we are relegated, it will be a relegation too far. No one is saying we should have gone up, nor should we have a divine right to be in the premier league. However, we are more than big enough as a club for this level and we have only the board, their inept choice of managers and the piss-poor quality of some of the players that have come through the revolving doors at Ashton Gate.
