where's the joy
well if it took a match to prove that 4-4-2 could work then at last Johnson set his team up right get the fullbacks and wingers playing in pairs like they know each other (COD put in a hell of a shift) play Tomlin as high up the pitch as you can and don't ask him to track back and let the runners do the running. we played high up the pitch and did not invite them on. and now that our right and left centre halves know where to patrol and have both fullbacks and wingers tracking back we can keep the crosses away korey smith made a hell of a difference what a missed opportunity this season has been, but at least we have one cat in hells chance of avoiding relegation
...
I thought the reason we bought Tommo was so we could blame him when City lose, and also wonder at his skill when we win? If it is more technical than that I have issues with attention span. tfj

Both flanks could play knowing they had support and could overlap positions. Finally the right selections in those positions. Plus essentially playing 2 attackers pins the oppo defense back more, again, not rocket science, but something that's been missing all season. Bat Fastard
Lee Tomlin seems to lack the ability/desire to chase and tackle, and it is impossible to play him as a ball winner. He is OK as a ball keeper, although he does tend to lose it by taking on too many people. Some of his passing is sublime. He is a difficult player to pidgeon hole - not quite a midfielder and not quite a striker - but played just behind a mobile, quick and skillful player like Tammy, he seems to have found his niche. Hopefully he will end the season strongly as we power away from the relegation zone!
Up The City!
He's not a.striker imo, he's an Attacking Midfielder. Too many people often get caught up on formations. It wasn't a 442 it was a 4231 but a formation is something that forever changes. It's very fluid and throughout the game it can appear we are playing a number of different formations. For example if the wingers drop back for a bit it then becomes a 4411, if they push forward it becomes a 4213. If you spend the whole game worrying about the formation we are playing then your just wasting your time because it is so dynamic.
