Guest pogue mahone
I know some of you out there might collect match programmes, or Panini stickers, or ticket stubs. Me, I'm starting a collection of amusing misuses of the word "literally" which I have gleaned from radio and TV pundits and various club websites. Here are three which spring to mind: 1. The team literally caught fire in the second half. 2. The fans are literally on tenterhooks as the minutes tick away. 3. With that tackle, [Player X] literally got away with murder. Any more for any more? I must admit I now find myself misusing the word for comic effect, ever since a friend did the same by telling me his son could "literally talk the hind legs off a donkey."
