Can’t help but think we could have done without the Stuart Broad show in the middle of a test, leave it until the end or announce it before. But then he wouldn’t have had as much of the attention he loves.

I don’t deny he deserves it, I just think his timing could have been better.

Yeah he did but he wasn’t moving properly. Had loads of physio and pace was down. Hobbled around field at one point.

It’s not been a great series for bowlers fitness, Moeen-twice, Stokes-every game, Robinson, Wood, Anderson-age……

Maybe not India, but next summer is a great chance to launch a new attack.  Really need Robinson to dedicate himself to getting in shape consistently, fit and bowling 83-84mph. Such a good bowler when he does that.  We have so many good fast bowlers but just need 4-5 to stay fit and available!

Trescothick said it was tactical and he was fit to bowl.

Yeah he did. They’ve told mistruths in the past though. He was fit enough to bowl but not fully fit which is why it took him a while to come on. He got an hour physio before start of play and then physio through the whole lunch break. Wasn’t moving properly in the field and then his speeds were down.

He also went straight off the field after bowling, just before it started raining.

You’re right, it hasn’t been great. But I don’t know what else we can expect if we were to pick bowlers who hadn’t bowled with a red ball in ages.

Only Jimmy and Broad played more than two first-class games in the run up to the Ashes. Moeen hadn’t played red-ball cricket for two years and it was a miracle Wood and Woakes were fit to come in mid-series. Don’t forget we missed Leach all series and we picked a keeper who hadn’t kept wicket for three years before the series.

Australia will piss this chase IMO.

I think the main factors are a) age of the bowlers b) the five tests being so close together.
