I think we might see Cook, Stoneman, Westley, Root, Stokes, Bairstow, Ali, Woakes, TRJ, Broad, Anderson for game 1 against WI and go from there Given Englands frailty with the bat, Woakes is a non starter for me. Ali on spin, Broad, Anderson, TRJ and Stokes the other bowlers. That is more than enough in attack and we need more batsmen. I'd go with the team in the last test but put Stoneman in for Jennings

The Windies arent the force they once were and England should beat them despite the introduction of the pink ball under lights.

Cook, Hameed, Westley, Root, Bairstow, Stokes, Ali, Woakes, Broad, Anderson - Then the 11th player is based on what the pitch looks like doing

Lrrr
Not test match, but watching England U19's vs India U19's and Rob Key talking a lot of sense, apparently a lot of the surfaces the U19's play on are worn surfaces that have been used for other pro matches, in essence we hand the advantage to India straight away and Key makes the point which English 19 year olds have a game geared for spin bowling, practically none. The pitch is turning a long way after 25 overs and India are ripping through us. Why don't we allow the U19's a pitch that we'd prepare for the senior team if a subcontinent team were touring?
Northern Red
Jennings dropped, plus Dawson and Finn have been left out of the squad. Stoneman, Woakes and Mason Crane have been called up.

Robbored
Broad was saying on Sky Sports how much he's looking forward to playing with a pink ball but says that it goes soft quicker than a red one. This might be a dumb thought but if it's only the colour of the ball that's different why should it go softer more quickly? And.........why do we need day/night test matches in England? We have a long dusk compared to other countries. Our test matches are very well supported so attracting crowds isn't so important as other test match countries. Lrrr
Don't know what it is, but if they haven't changed from when they were first introduced it will swing like hell when new.

I heard Andrew Strauss explain that they wanted to try it in England prior to the Ashes this winter to prevent the team going in with no previous day/night experience before the Adelaide game. You're right about test crowds being good in England but with West Indies being so mediocre perhaps this is the ideal game to do it, not sure sales for the first 3 days would have been so high without the intrigue of the first day nighter in England. Robbored
Well they don't seem to know what they're doing. New ball available, lights on and they don't take it but continue with their fourth seamer who gets injured after three deliveries to be replaced by spin............ Windies are a bit of a shambles. Mr Popodopolous
Well it's as expected end of Day 1. West Indies are a shambles in all honesty, have been for some time. I believe varied Test players from them have retired for the greater riches of 20/20. They are nothing, absolutely nothing like WI sides of old.
