1960maaan
I nipped away when Woakes went, 100 for the next 3 wickets was much better than I expected. Now with Broad claiming his Bunny again maybe we could put some pressure on by catching the ******* ball.

Fordy62
**** me. Johnny Bairstow is a complete clown. Edit: although I don’t blame him. I blame McCullum. This is all done to shoe horn Crawley into the team! yay!!!! Edited July 7, 2023 by Fordy62
Lanterne Rouge
FFS Bairstow! Difficult one but he should have held that.
1960maaan
Going to be a tough conversation, but surely they have to have a real look at Foakes for the next Test.

Northern Red
Fortunately it didn't matter, but they need to address this.
Northern Red
Foakes is obviously the better keeper, that's not up for debate, but I don't recall Bairstow ever being this error prone before. That suggests it's a confidence and pressure issue.
Kid in the Riot
Crawley getting a bit of unfair stick this match, fourth highest scoring batsman in this Test so far and has taken a few good catches in the slips, and hasn't dropped one (to my knowledge). Not exactly an awful performance, by any stretch.

To ask someone, after a year of no cricket, to be a main batter and wicket keeper is a very big ask. I suppose its said with hindsight, but many people wanted Foakes and Bairstow in the team if you look to the start of this thread.
Kid in the Riot
England been given a couple of gifts here. Marsh and Stokes aside it seems no-one fancies a bat on this pitch!

I'm happy to see Bairstow in as a batter , but just let him concentrate on that. I've always preferred as specialist keeper but it will be a real juggling act for the next Test to get the bowling right. With Stokes not bowling, Robinson must be a doubt even questions over Wood being able to stay the course. I have a feeling they will stick with Keeper/Batter as it makes it easier to play another bowler .

RoystonFoote'snephew
I'm not saying it's particularly relevant to this wicket but what happened to the medium pacer in test cricket. It seems to be fast or spin with nothing in between.

RoystonFoote'snephew
Butcher gave a mention to the late great Sylvester Clarke. Due to the incredible strength of the West Indies bowling attack he never won the international caps he deserved, which was probably why he took the unwise decision to go on the rebel tour to South Africa. In domestic cricket however he was frightening, regularly bowling at 95mph. Certainly I never saw another bowler unsettle Viv Richards as much as him.
