I guess so bit I am confused. Does that mean Flint stays and Frankie is no1 with no Ripley?

or squad numbers mean nothing in which case why give Pato 20 and leave Hegeler in the long grass.

Squad numbers don't mean a thing. Too much is read in to them. Some players have a liking for a particular number. I don't know, but this might be the case with Pack. A regular starter (as he should be) but has always worn 21.

GoN wasn't 30 in the list that I got on twitter? Baker takes 6 then

Pretty sure Hegeler always wears 13, Golbourne obviously has that here, so took 31. It was explained at the time. Couldn't give a toss what number they were. Flint wearing 4 and playing centre half does annoy me though. Def midfielder number is that.....

Unlike last season no numbers have been allocated to Arnie Garita and De Girolamo, guess that means the latter is going out on loan and the former could well be on his way permanently, I think.

O'Neil was 6 when I saw the list earlier. Must be for Baker now.

Thank God someone else saw it, I mentioned it on the Baker thread and was then corrected that he was wearing 30. Thought I was going mad.....

makes sense as they are no where near the first team, league one would be good for both,

Lots of players like sticking to a number once it is allocated, so I guess Paterson and Hegeler (like Đurić and Engvall) simply wanted to hold on to their current ones.

Just because Frankie wears 1 doesn't mean any new keeper won't play ahead of him.

Also we do often re-cycle numbers, Derrick Williams started last season as our no.5 then he left for Blackburn and Ekstrand wore it.

If Flint goes then any August arrival could take number 4.

More than happy at baker coming in but I fear that means ones going out going to flint obvs , at least signing a replacement first makes sense for once !!

Tottenham were the worst....look at this from 1981 FACF Replay;

And for Man City what the eff is Paul Power doing wearing no5 and playing LM1

All wrong, should've been no FAC winner that season!

Galvin wearing 9 and playing on the wing....seem to remember he used to do that quite a lot, Villa often wore 5 as well

One sub as well. The good old day, Dave!

I, for one, am not keen on squad numbers.

It should be league rules that it is 1-11, with the subs in sequence.

How else can an idiot know for sure who is left back??

Why not just do away with numbers and use the player's twitter handle?

Can they just have their positions on the shirt?  We can then slag them/LJ for not having a clue when they're out of position.

No retconning by the manager post match then.

I like it

Donnie Gillies used to wear 9 and play right back for us in the late 70s, albeit after he had been converted there from a striker.

That's a hell of a conversion there!
