Bailey Wright new club captain..

Nailed on Flint leaving then. Baker didn't come here to sit on the bench and neither will the captain.

I did too. Definitely Thursdays

Probably mean SKY can show more exerts and get more TV coverage in the build up to the new season starting

Noticed in the Premier league, the Press conferences occur on different days and times of the day so they can all be covered

No, I didn't mean because Flint isn't captain. But because Baker will be a pretty much nailed on starter and so will Bailey, even more so if he's been made captain.

Always wondered why Flint has never captained us, in my own opinion he's probably the most obvious leader we have

Didn't he turn it down previously?

Not necessarily, Wilbs hardly featured last season...

I know, and personally think it's unwise to have a designated captain that isn't a regular first teamer.

Would expect our captain this year to be a nailed on starter.

Ahh the usual prematch one?

Thought they were on a Thursday?

Yes, as stated in the first post in this thread. Or do you not read them?

Agreed mate but doesn't seem that LJ shares the same logic!

I think BW and Baker will be our regular CB partnership.

I think Flint is off and this..

Tbh I'd be happy with those two - Definitely some tasty challenges ahead.

Should have said 'could' but still surprising. Like you said, thought it'd be a while before we see him again

Understand what you meant. Read the tweet. Let's hope he stays fit . Think he could be a real asset. Good news

Based on what? Shouting at people now and then?

A lot more needed behind closed doors & on the pitch to be captain. There must be a reason he's never been captain under multiple managers.

If there are doubts over Đurić and fitness why risk him this weekend when we have options?

He must be near enough ready. With all of the technology these days . I'm sure it's not a risk. If he can stay fit it will be like a new signing. And he offers us something different. Hopefully the new wilbs . But better

I bought a programme for the Twente game, in it there is a media diary calendar for the next couple of weeks. Every Wednesday 'Pre-match Press' is listed, seems they are going to do these instead of the usual Thursday now. And if we have a game on a Tuesday Press day is the day before.

Doesn't say whether he's captain for season or just on Saturday?

Doesnt mean the end for Flint

I think it does !

Not sure why people think Flint not being captain means he's off.

Don't think he's a role model type of guy that's required to be captain necessarily, Bailey Wright seems to be a model pro.

So basically its his agent wanting a bigger payday for Flint and himself..

Flints not wanted to be captain has he? Are people saying because Bailey is Captain that means he's going to be a regular starter and Baker has come here to play, so it seems like there is no place for Flint perhaps?  @Phileas Fogg

That wasn't what I was saying PF. Just that if Flint does stay it means it's one of Baker and Bailey. Bailey being captain - to me - suggests it's a case of Bailey and Baker being the partnership, not competing for the same spot.

That's how I see it. Quite nice balance to that pairing, hopefully a more mature and experienced Baker will get injured a bit less and show his quality. Wright is only a bit older now than Flint was when he joined so plenty of time to improve. Think it's quite a promising first choice pairing. With Magnússon and Hegeler in reserve it's quite a nice group to choose from.

Which is understandable.

What pisses me off is the bullshit that Flint comes out with the other night to @RedM about how it's not in his hands and acting all mopey.

Why pretend it's not what you want when it's clearly what you want as you indicated it to the club months ago !

Flint has been almost first choice pick for past 3-4 seasons but been captain for one game. IMO he doesn't want it.

Oh I didn't mean you, for what it's worth I'm almost certain Flint will be going; but not for that reason.

I don't think he's captain material necessarily and as others have said seems to prefer not to have the responsibility of being captain.

Flint won't stay . Agent wants more money. And knows he can get it . Agents piss me off. Neymars agent is his dad . Wait until Aug gets an extra 35 million is what I read earlier

Would be difficult for him to captain us from Birmingham.

That might be because LJ doesn't see him as captain material. Obviously Wilbs was the prefect choice but after him, only LJ knows.

It really is just a job to these players. Can you blame them? It's a short career, if I was a player I'd probably do the same.

We like the idea that players have an emotional connection to the club, but mostly they don't.

It is not in his hands. The club wants to sell him so he has to go.

Spot on . The fans only have the real connection. Some players become fans. Some owners are fans. But majority of players it's a job.

I think he's one of those players that is 100% focused on his own game that means he wouldn't make a great pick.  @RedM has allured to him in the past being in the zone pre match and barely talking to anyone.. that's not what you need from a captain.  Not saying that's a bad thing just that it doesn't suit the role

No it's not. It means that City can demand a bigger wedge when he's being transferred - like now!

It's one cake meaning the total amount of money Birmingham are prepared to pay to get Flint.

If City get a bigger part of the cake it's less for Flint's agent/Flint to enjoy
