Unan Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Who's going then? Got to go by myself haven't I. Can anyone help with general information about Griffin Park? Pubs etc Also, when I bought my ticket there wasn't an option for Upper/Lower, is the upper sold out or is it first come first serve? Thanks
Son of Fred Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Pub on each corner of the ground-happy days!...
Totterdown's Finest Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Think one of the pubs might have closed. I shall be there (Brentford, not in a now former pub!)
shelts Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Would love to be at Griffin Park but I'm having my hip replaced that very day
DANWRENBCFC4LIFE Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Last season just us fans turned up and not the players
Redmycolour Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Had trouble parking last season may give a miss.
Reading Red UTC Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Got my ticket this afternoon! First time visiting Griffin Park. Good to tick this one off before they move in to their new stadium!
exAtyeoMax Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 I'm going straight from work. Upper tier, cos I'm too short for the standing area. A great little ground, bricks and iron.

Last time I went lots of City and Bees fans mixing cordially in the New Inn. Not sure about the others.
Dunc Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 I'm heading down. Went to watch QPR play there last season and great day out. I recommend the Nelson pub about a 5 minute walk from the ground. Seemed friendly and nice beer garden if the sun is out.
ExiledAjax Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 I'm going! My first game of the season. And yes the pub on the southern corner of the ground closed a few years back. I think all the pubs on the corners welcome away fans but it's The Griffin that's closest to the away end entrance.

Surely you'll be fit and ready to be bouncing round the ground after the op? Man up In all seriousness hope you have a speedy recovery and you're at the gate again soon, hip replacements can be a nightmare to get over
Selred Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 As a London based fan I'm so glad this is at the start of the season (normally make first home game and Birmingham away but in Greece for both!). Great little ground, hidden away in little backstreets. Bring it on!

Offside Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Great ground, decent pubs, friendly home fans - well worth a visit, even though it's often not the happiest of venues for City results-wise. One of the only grounds apart from Ashton Gate where I have watched games from different sides because the away end has changed a couple of times.

I really enjoyed going there last season (shame it isn't a Saturday this time) even though we lost.
And Its Smith Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Going on my own. If anyone wants a pint with a grumpy **** let me know

Yes I remember seeing Gary Johnson's first game in charge (or one of them) in what is now the home end, with Wilkshire slamming in a free kick winner.

Am going straight from work so look out for another grumpy old git in a suit and introduce yourself. Or send me a message
GoodridgeandGoater Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 Didn't Leroy Lita come off the bench to turn a game in the Danny Wilson and era? Scored two to win if i remember right. An after-Christmas game? Remember bouncing on that roofless terrace
wendyredredrobin Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 West London is a fairly close day out from Brizzle, but best bet is to go on the train as parking is a bit of a mare and you never know what you are going to get on the M4. Brentford fans are on the whole a relatively friendly lot.

lgbbcf Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 lots of pubs around, parking is residential almost everywhere, there is a carpark on the main road as you come off the motorway, which is has a large sign painted down the side saying ironically 'this is not a carpark' which is quite cheap and usually has lots of spaces.
