LondonBristolian Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Not Kodjia. The other one. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41001685 I know he was not at his best here and has done well since but £15 million? Really! Completely different striker to Gray too - will have to change their style as him and our admittedly very unlucky former loan signing Sam Vokes are not going to have a lot of pace...
BobBobSuperBob Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Lot of money for him IMHO Has always been 'ok' / decent finisher and had a great season last year but whether he can deliver in Prem - not convincee Hope I'm wrong - seems a decent pro - good luck to him - Burnley do tend to get a decent return out of their signings
Nibor Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 From what I saw of him here I'm still at a loss... he had a terrible touch and I never really understood why he was so well regarded. He's done well at Leeds though so what do I know? Be interesting to see how he does in the Prem, but I think Vokes is a better player in the same mould.
simon uk Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Mores the point does that free up the funds for them to sign flint?
Phileas Fogg Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Lots of money for him, even in this market. Not really sure what he brings that Vokes doesn't - hardly a logical replacement for Gray. Funny how a fair few players we have had fleetingly on loan have blossomed into prem players.. none of them particularly impressive either at the time.. Vokes (got injured in his defence), Woods, Rose. Of all those I think most of us would've predicted Caulker to go the furthest by far albeit he's had his problems. Shows you can't write players off too early.

petehinton Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Striker? Could've sworn he was a left winger. At least, we seemed to play him there a lot.
Super Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Think he is a top target man whose goal scoring record is very good.

OTIB made a judgement based on last season's fleeting glimpses and most are prepared to say he'll never make it for City because the Swedish league is soooooo inferior. Bolasie would never amount to anything. And of course, the famous Matt Smith assessment of 2014..... (The above is tongue in cheek, I promise)

It's possible he has improved. As you say, be interesting to see how he does. Vokes is a very useful and underrated player (shame he got injured so soon for us)
Northern Red Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 He had a lot of loan moves a few years ago, including to us. Maybe just finding somewhere where he can settle and play every week has done him good. Harry Kane was similar when he was younger, out on loan all the time without looking particularly brilliant, and look at him now.
Portland Bill Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 He was top goalscorer in the Championship last season, £15 million seems to be the going price for the top few strikers in our league. I wouldn't class him as the best of all round footballers, but his goal scoring record is decent, and that commands good money.

We played all sorts of players in all sorts of position around that time, I'm still not convinced David James was actually our goalkeeper.
Lanterne Rouge Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 I`ll always thank him for that penalty at Forest. Talk about a pressure situation.
kiwicolin Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Well done the kiwi from a kiwi. Good luck to him.
exAtyeoMax Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 I thought he was good when he was here, I was sorry we didn't keep him. He's always looked good for LU
Garland-sweden Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Think he is good. Top scorer in this leauge.Remember he scored important goals for us.
Guest galleyman Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 It's not only Wood, what about Matt Smith now scoring a few for QPR , and some time ago Liam Rosenior who's done well in the Prem. Then there's Bolassie and Adomah , both doing better at other clubs than with us. Too often our management is too impatient to see how a player will develop.
