If any City fans get a chance tonight or tomorrow please read the thread linked. Some very ill informed and patronising comments about our club, it's pure gold to read right now and No I am also not the Bristol City fan commenting on the thread either.

And any Watford fans who will read this topic - I certainly am laughing after reading some of your fans disrespectful comments about us.

Just trying to get under our skin pre kick off reading it. After the game most of them seemed fairly complementary about us deserving to win all be it a few fans saying they played poor. Get the feeling Troy Deany is thought about in the same way some fans thought about Lee Tomlin at times

Seems fairly standard stuff to me, they come across as alright I thought.  Even being polite to the City fan with a penchant for exclamation marks.

Wow what a bunch of ignorant *****. Strange really that they have such a shit fan base for a club who have have been far more successful then us.

And Watford as an area haha never hear anything about it other. What a deluded bunch but hey ho got beat by our second team. Always preferred Luton as a club tbh bigger support and more passtionate fans.

16'500 average attendance when finishing second in the championship ! :rofl2br:

Well I'm pleased you've proved yourself superior to them by your well thought out post, we look so much classier than them now.

Not read it, wont read it, what I will say is they have a roof. They have hit the roof, they'll sack Marco Silva even if they hit top 10. They're a small fry club in terms of recruitment, they have a shocking academy, their fans are shite and until a couple of years ago they had 3 stands!!!

Owners are loopy as roundabouts too...

Really nice to see both sets of fans mingling before the game in the local area, Got a bit of stick from a couple of 10 year olds as we walked through them to the coach, one of them screamed at me in a mimic Accrington Stanley, saying 'Bristol City, who are they' and I smiled sweetly at him and said 'winners, Bristol City are winner's', ok a bit childish but he didnt know what to say which amused me for a moment

Only comment of note

The left back for Bristol today looked a pretty decent player tbf. Don't remember him getting beaten once by Amrabat or Richarlison, was always an option in attack and I think he got the assist for the 2nd

weren't they offered like £20m-£30m for him last season? Sounds like they all think he's gone to pot.

I found them on there to just be a bit quirky.  In the bit I read they were claiming sarcasm that every visiting fan seems to take seriously and reports back to their own forum - which has happened here.

I think they're just a bunch of jokers really, taking the piss generally.  Not particularly out of us.

They know they aren't a big club, there was quite a bit of self-deprecation there.

He's been injured so the fair fans will give him time.

Fair enough, wonder if the higher ups at Watford may be regretting the decision, regardless of Premier League money £30m for a player is still a lot.

Oh,absolutely.  Even in today's market I'd bite someone's hand off at that for Deeney.

Really can't see what the problem is/was on their forum....pretty tame banter before the game, pretty gracious and magnanimous in defeat after the game, fair play.

Yeah tbf having just read the rest of the thread it was pretty tongue in cheek.

'I have literally never heard of any of these people...

Bristol City: Fielding, Vyner, Flint, Magnússon, Kelly, Eliasson, Hegeler, O'Neil, O'Dowda, Hinds, Diedhiou

Subs: Lucic, Golbourne, Wright, K.Smith, Paterson, Reid, Taylor.'

Well mate, you've definitely heard of them now...

I actually think some Otibers do a much better job at slagging off our club!

Did find the lad saying "I didn't even realise Bristol City were in the Championship; have we become the type of Premier League fans we used to hate?" funny tbf.

Says more about him if he's a football fan who hasn't heard of Flint, Fielding, O'Neil, Golbourne and Smith at a minimum.

I thought their forum was very good to be honest. Some decent humour and an honest and balanced assessment of the game. Nearly as good as our very own OTIB. :P

I had a glance and, like many on here, found their forum to be balanced and quite amusing.

This post did stick out for me, though:

I googled them and it said "do you mean Bristol Rovers."

Seriously have no idea who just beat us.

Nothing objectionable in that thread other than the City fan who seems to be a complete tit.

Watford seem like a nice bunch, always have.  Good luck to them.

I work with a bunch of your standard Premier League team supporters, and many of them that have recently moved to Bristol still refer to Bristol City as "Bristol". A Liverpool fan I used to work with didn't even know where the ground was, and he had lived in Bristol for a decade!

Like it or not, but to most fans in the country we're still viewed as a small-time club. If we were ever lucky enough to be promoted, people would probably look on us in the same way they look on clubs like Yeovil making the Championship. Rival fans will want to give us a pat on the head, and tell us to enjoy the year, because we'll soon be in our rightful place in football obscurity.

We might see ourselves as a solid Championship team, but we've flirted with relegation since we've been back. We're still a long way from the majority of football fans calling us Bristol City, let alone the Premier League...

yes but we've played Watford loads of times…:city:

Fairly well balanced posts with slagging their lot and giving some credit to us.

The best thing is that they hardly referred to us as Bristol and used City on it's own several times. Not many club's fans would do that.

Doesn't really matter though, reflects on their football knowledge if anything. I'm not particularly interested in the Prem (unless we got promoted) but know the basic info about most teams, could name their players and ground. Likewise league 1 or 2.

How many of those fans you work with are regular attendees to the clubs they support? Or are they Sky Sports armchair fans?

What's the difference between "literally never heard of" and "never heard of"?

Seem a reasonable bunch to be fair. A few dopey comments. They can behave with the whole 'who are they' digs though. We have a bigger and better stadium/infrastructure and an average attendance more a less identical and we are a tier below.. says it all really. We are the bigger club, they are just punching above there weight and Good luck to them.. they are one of the more harmless London clubs I must say.

Actually, knowing the area well, I give credit to anyone from South Herts who supports Watford with the huge North London clubs on their doorstep. Many don't.

Do you even need to ask?

I've worked for a few fans of Premier League teams that "know" of Bristol City, usually Newcastle fans that were happy to not have to travel so far to see their team in action, and the odd posh Liverpool or Arsenal fan that can afford to travel to see their team and visit a few games in Bristol when needed. There's nothing nicer than working with an Arsenal fan that thinks finishing 5th in the Premier League is the worst possible thing to happen to a football club...

As sad as it sounds, I think the vast majority of football fans haven't been to a game in at least five years. Aside from a handful of people, I'd say most football fans I've met have never been to a game as long as I've known them.
