West Brom striker I'm not in the know but just someone who LJ mentioned to a mate of mine as someone he was intrested in and he only really wants players 24

Aren't West Brom one of the clubs linked with Flint? :fear:

No disrespect to the OP for sharing but I don't think this will happen.

I doubt LJ would casually drop his next transfer target whilst having a few with a randomer in Brown's.

Sorry Red but you're very much mistaken. I had to stop going to Brown's as it was getting embarrassing, LJ just couldn't help himself telling me about all the signings he was going to make. "How are you?" He'd ask, "I'm good thanks Lee, a little hungry after a long day" I'd  reply.  "Oh, famished then?" He'd quip, quickly followed by "that's funny, as I'm looking at a Sengalese international who plays for Angers, and his first name is Famara" and so it would go on.......

So what did Lee say to you about a potential loan signing from the Midlands when you bumped into him in the toy shop looking for plastic Danish building blocks?

My best friend is a baggie and he seriously rates Leko. Still young but very technical and has held his own in Prem games. I went to see them at The Hawthorns and was really impressed by the atmosphere, and even more surprisingly the football was impressive too!

LJ was out in Park Street on Saturday night and spoke a number of fans.  He was actually very open in a lot of what he said.

Whether he talked about Leko to this chap I don't know, but he was certainly open to talk about anything (and was also apologetic for the performance v Millwall.

Maybe he was doing it on purpose to see how far the story would go - if it goes on here then it'll end up in the Post a day later, and so on.

Another winger who can play left or right or up front.

No idea about this other than he's reportedly a damn fineplayer with Prem experience, International experience with England and with a point to prove.

It's a yes from me.

He defiantly did tell my mate he was intrested in leko as he didn't have a clue who he was just a second name so I googled it and he came up, and he Dosnt really no much about up and coming West Brom player who don't start on a regular basis so he wouldn't no him from match of the day

Jonathan Leko could be the player to watch for West Brom next season – given the opportunity.

The winger has shown in flashes in the first-team previously that he has plenty of ability, even with his tender years.

That talent was on show again in the trip to Hong Kong this summer; accompanied by many other starlets, winger Leko stood out with bursts of pace and tricky feet.

It has many supporters excited by the prospect of first-team football for Leko at Albion, who have long since desired to have a youngster make the grade in the senior set-up.

Well, since Saido Berahino, anyway.

Yet like Berahino previously, there’s the chance that a loan deal may be on the cards for the forthcoming season ForTony Pulis couldn’t rule out the potential of a move into the Football League in order to gain useful experience, particularly if he landed the targets he wanted in the window.

“I’m disappointed I’ve not been able to [play the youngsters more after achieving safety],” Pulis said in May.

“Why? I think the chairman would say £4m worth why.

That could add to helping us bring players in for next year.

“The kids who have not played this year, if we get players in, will definitely be out on loan and gaining some experience.”

Leko is one of a cluster of young players who offer plenty of promise for the long-term future

Sam Field, Kane Wilson and Tyler Roberts have also tasted first-team football while Rekeem Harper is making waves too. But their age shouldn’t be a deterrant – as the old adage goes, if you’re good enough then you’re old enough.

Leko, still only 18, has provided glimpses in the past that he is capable of making the step up.

His full debut against West Ham had many questioning how far the Congo-born teen could go.West Bromwich Albion's Jonathan Leko (left) and Manchester City's Sergio AgueroWest Bromwich Albion's Jonathan Leko (left) and Manchester City's Sergio Aguero

In that instance, as far as the by-line on a number of occasions, making light work of a very talented left-back in Aaron Cresswell.

His wonderful solo dribble eventually teed up Salomon Rondon in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool on the final game of the season and in many ways the end of that campaign perhaps came at the wrong time for Leko, just as he was making his mark.

The wide-man’s best moment in the recently ended season was perhaps his last-gasp assist from a corner as Rondon equalised at Stoke.

It hasn’t all been plain sailing, though; his loss of possession to Andros Townsend (albeit in his own half) in the defeat to Crystal Palace last season sealed the Baggies’ defeat that day.

There have been instances where naivety has been evident.

On the whole, though, Leko has produced moments that have seen The Hawthorns collectively rise from their seats.

Having signed Burke - Leko probably available   So this may have legs - as far as I can see he's another of what we've got , albeit a good young player

He's 18, so might be one for the future.

If he knows how to grab hold of opposing players' shirts then surely he has already learned his trade and is old enough. ?

Hope so with Pack and Smith rotating as required

I expect Pack will be preferred, most our moves out from the back start with him.

Leko, Elliason, Odowda, Pato. Got some depth behind the strikers now, can include brownhill and Bryan on that list as well (based on Kelly playing LB) can be a real game changer which is refreshing to see.

From what I've seen (minimal) he's like sproule  with an end product

Oldish video but shows what's he's about. With him and Eliasson it's good to see we've got some genuine width, pace and skill on the wings if we require it.

Always was so disappointed we barely got to see Adomah and Bolasie together..

If we require width why did Johnson narrow the pitch? As I understand, it cannot now be altered.

Listening to others - sounds an exciting signing

Slurprised , considering how we play cards close to our chest that LJ tells fans about this in Park Street !!!

No harm done this time around thankfully

Welcome Jonathan -

Probably because we defend narrowly and struggle when our opponents get into wide positions...

Looks like a great signing to the squad and well done for the second season in bringing in one of the prems great young talents.

OK LJ now just the little matter of the 2nd season of an unfit for purpose midfield, we need an organiser who knows what he is doing, Smith and Pack whinge and whine a lot during games but neither can organise, neither have discipline to hold their line, pick up runners or pass players on and neither create enough, our current midfield contributed a grand total of 7 assists last season boosted by Patterson's 4 and so far this season only Brownhill has an assist to his name, of course Matt Taylor had 5 assists last season in 15 games maybe LJ sees him other than a striker perhaps?.

Even so still need an organiser urgently.

I agree but also wonder if, played in the middle and given the responsibility, Brownhill might be that player. He is still young of course but I think he has the potential to become the type of midfielder we are crying out for. Of course the question is whether he can do so yet but it may be trying him is the best way to find out...

How big is this new bloke. Can he defend? Would be a great signing if he can do that as well as attack and good to see Tiny P doing us a favour. Plus it gives the opportunity for Brownhill to be in the middle. Like the way he comes forward with an eye for goal. Maybe now we'll get more goals from midfield. Brilliant.

Just checked on the WBA website and Leko is 6 foot 1

Links with DR Congo ring any bells for the people on here? Looks like as well as being big, fast and skilful he's also got something about him like  another  Mr. L ...................

By 1 yard either side....still got one of the widest pitches in the division (I believe).

Must've been in the bag, probably dependent on the Burke deal which concluded last week.

You heard it here first....also a softener for Flint going to WBA. (Total guesswork)

Hold my hands up. Apologies to the original poster.

No worries i know probably over 70% of the names that get put on the transfer forum are just 12 years olds making things up on fake twitter accounts and things so it's not a surprise that some people arnt going to believe me because if you believe everything you read on the transfer senction ;) we would have champions league competative squad, just glad In a way that LJ Was being honist with fans

Great addition. I just hope this doesn't leave us too open down the flanks what with Eliasson now at our disposal!

Certainly a headache for LJ to deal with.

To play a higher pressing game. The pitch is slightly narrowER. Not narrow.

Not really, just gives us depth. Our squad has been bereft of genuine width and pace for a while.

We've got loads of defensive minded midfielders anyway so it should balance out.

I expect Leko will start; doubt West Brom sent him here to be a sub.

Out of all of our central midfield options Brownhill although probably is the most talented IMO is also the most ill disciplined in terms of positioning etc., he tries to be to clever at the wrong times for me, him and a proper midfield organiser who can make sure that our midfield keep it's shape at all times and directs and bullies his fellow midfielders is totally what we need IMO.

Great signing. Hopefully he plays on the right instead of Brownhill as he doesn't look natural there. Would like to see Brownhill and Pack in the middle with Leko on the right.

6 foot then. If he can jump we might have a bit of a threat on our hands. Bobby in behind, someone big on the flanks to win flick ons. Exciting signing this.

Absolutely, we have a lot depth in wide areas. Just a worry we don't leave Bryan and Pisano isolated when on the back foot. Just being cautious here on my part!

Exciting signing nonetheless.
