Who's the mystery injury?

Just listening to LJ's interview, says we have an injury, won't say who but that the individual was involved Tuesday and will miss the squad tonight. Will also have a scan today. The way he said it suggested it was a starting XI player.

I presume it has the potential to be quite bad, in my experiences if they've had to wait a few days for a scan it's for the swelling to reduce, so probably a knee or ankle injury?

Famara was taken off early on, could it be him? Can hardly see us keeping it under wraps if it was a fringe player...

Don't think it is Diedhiou, I reckon it was the plan all along to give him and Reid 45 each. Enough to keep them ticking over but not to tire them out.

Smith or O'Neil maybe? Both injury prone.

My guess is Bryan as he has picked up a few knocks already this season.

I think Bryan as well, was rated 50/50 for the millwall game, so there must be something there injury wise.

Smith I reckon , he took a nasty one to the ankle.

Just hope it's not the one he's previously had problems with .

Did pre match interview and attended the event the players went to at a sports facility in Bristol yesterday... https://www.bcfc.co.uk/bctv/ looked happy enough

Joe Bryan is my guess.

LJ interview suggested it was picked up on Tuesday night? "We have one injury to a player who was involved on Tuesday night"

Fielding...

Only because it's a strange one to say nothing about, and I think its quite clear he's not happy at the goalkeeping situation. Was amazed that Lucic didn't play through the week or against Plymouth - almost unheard of to change most of the team for a cup game but not the goalkeeper, especially as in recent years we usually have played the reserve keeper in lesser cup competitions...

Agreed, when Watford scored their second at the end Flint clattered into him and he ended up in the back of the net, then that was the end of the game. LJ should have played Lucic in that game, looks like he might get his chance tonight.

My guess is Eliasson, as he took several hefty challenges midweek, including the one that saw Holebas sent off.

Irony doesnt work on here, uless it is signposted. Nothing like an OTIB kicking to start your day off...

that is a relief and I can see your point on Frankie. Keeping us in games, as we still cant defend for 90 mins. It was strange Lucic isnt tried in the cup games. he was great against Fulham last year.

If it is Joe Bryan it will be interesting to see if LJ goes with Kelly or Magnússon. Kelly, a natural  left back but inexperienced or Magnússon, experienced but more of a central defender. I assume it won't be Golbourne as he is out of favour.

It's not Smith, spoke about how much he's looking forward to today's game etc in the pre match interview..

Dont think we'd have put him on media duty to talk about the upcoming game if he wasn't fully fit.

Sure it would be Magners

Might be we did it to fool Villa

Didn't we have , just recently, a player doing exactly that ?

Jumping to conclusions here but, could it be flint? Joe Bryan left a cheeky comment on his instgram about his ankle - which looks wrapped up. Johnson has never said "Flint's not in the team because his head's gone" everyone just assumed it's related to him 'having his head turned'

Exactly who I was going guess, it's obvious it's Flinty and I haven't even seen the Joe comment. He gets dropped since the speculation started, gets a little shop window teaser on Tuesday, clattered Frankie and now conveniently he's possibly injured.Hmmm

It's all over that Facebook group that Flint wasn't at training so if it's an actual injury my guess is Flint, but if it's a he's in talks with another club injury then my guess is Flint. Watch it be Hegeler.

Of course this could all be a very clever ruse to fool Villa.

Speaking of Villa, providing Terrys playing, I think we'll try and run at the defence as much as possible. Don't think he has the legs to cope for 90 minutes being ran at.

My guess was going to be Smith, but seems unlikely now.  O'Neil is retweeting 'match-day' stuff, so unlikely to be him.

Flint or Eliasson for me

I don't think he would have taken Diedhiou off at half time unless he was injured, so he looks the clear favourite to me.  If he is out, I'd start with Reid and Taylor, though a sneaky part of me would love to see Aden Flint played up front against John Terry.  That could be entertaining!

I think it was planned to keep Fammy fit for tonight .

LJ let Fammy and Bobby have 45 mins each to keep them ticking over but not to over tire them .

Ok thanks.  Fair enough.  If Famara is fit, it's a big challenge fir him tonight.

My eight year old says 2-1 City.

I'm really hoping it isn't Famara.

I had Watford away down as the second time Johnson has won a match here with his tactical substitutions and was hoping it was an indicator that he is improving (also note, zero players thrown under the bus so farthis season).

It will be hugely deflating to me if it turns out Reid for Fam was an enforced change due to injury. :(

It would still have been a big call to replace your record signing striker, with a midfielder...!

You're right Major.

Hoxton is right to mind. Irony on here is a waist of thyme.

Goes over people's heads. Will I be allowed to start a thread about LJ irrespective of the result/performance/weather tonight?

Jeez the consensus on here about Frankie is up and down like a yo-yo.

That's not a dig at you btw. I dont get to many games and dont read every thread but it just seems every couple of games his popularity changes from liability to world beater and back again - or am I imagining it?

It's the split on here. Many think his distribution isn't good enough. I think a goalie just needs to stop the ball going im his net, FF is good at that.

Claudio Bravo's distribution is excellent. Perhaps we'd rather have him!

Frankie's distribution is rubbish, but most other parts of his game are good/excellent.

It's no coincidence that he's seen off competition from how many other keepers since he's been here..?!

Every keeper will make the odd howler, they all do, but Frankie he's proven that he's perfectly good at this level and without spending £5million Plus to tempt another teams first choice keeper here, I don't think we'd get much better, who it proven at this level or above.

The way it's being kept quiet you'd think it's an attacking player.. could well be Reid as I'd understand why that would be kept quiet. Same for Diedhiou.

Suppose it could be Eliasson or O'Dowda but I don't know why they'd be kept quiet as they look like the second choice wide players right now.

Especially one that can't score!

(Well, except non-league sides, Cheltenham, Yeovil, Barnsley, Brum, Brentford and Watford )

I reckon that should be our new chant for him. Instead of 'he scores when he likes' it would be (deep breath now)  - Bobby Reid he only scores against non leagues teams except Cheltenham, yeovil, Barnsley, Birmingham, Brentford and premier league teams when we play them in the cup!

Pretty catchy

Not Eliasson i dont think. Pretty sure i've just seen him in the centre in his City gear with fancy washbag looking like he's waiting to be picked up.

Ha ha - I did wonder how this might come across.  Pretty sure his expected pick up was football related.....maybe....it was a big wash bag though and it was mighty fancy!

Hoping it's not Matty Taylor again

Suddenly with the emergence of Reid and Hinds, injuries to Đurić and Taylor don't seem to worrying

True. if true, ie someone is defo out tonight.. the worst would be Reid, no probably Fielding arguably worse for us

If it is Reid , play Hinds his direct running at villla's aged defence would be a plus. Play him off Diedhieu, plus I'm sure he would be love to shine on the tv

Probably - we do have a history of bad luck when it comes to crocked strikers -
