Redmycolour Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 I understood when I subscribed to this service that it was £5 pm,for. Live audio streaming, now I find its not available on mobile or tablet,in this country, advice please,
Negan Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 You should be able to listen to the game in this country. It's only streaming of the match that isn't.

If you're out and about and using data it might not let you. I've been in my car before trying to watch stuff on the BBC IPlayer and it wont let me unless I connect to Wi-Fi. Usually it comes up with a message saying this service isn't provided for people outside of the UK. If you are connected to Wi-Fi then I haven't got a Scooby mate. Best of luck
wendyredredrobin Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 Why not just listen on Radio Brizzle?

Norn Iron Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 Great question. It's annoying when watching via youtube. Sorry I've no sensible answers unless a black permanent marker is sensible!

In a nutshell, you connect to a server outside of the UK, which then connects to BCTV, tricking it in to thinking you're outside of the UK. This is all for educational purposes of course, I am definitely not recommending you to do it. I would not suggest making your subscription more worth while.
Alessandro Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 Or @Tammys Scan you could not advertise educational advise so openly in a place where the 'authorities' could read it and then look into blocking the work around, as platforms like iplayer/Netflix etc have done, or attempted to......

Guest Robin in Qatar Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 Have recently tried to subscribe to BCTV after it changed from Bristol City Player. Has anyone experienced issues logging on?
42nite Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 Logging on was fine for me. It was the 90 minutes that followed that was the problem.
42nite Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 Have you subscribed yet? It will be a new subscription and contract with BCTV.
Dollymarie Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 Yeah was just about to say, you'll need to reregister with your details, as your old ones won't work any more.
Norn Iron Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 Read other posts on another thread. When you do log on, having subscribed, you'll be taken to your account details! Scroll back up to the top and on the right hand side you'll see a 'back to bcfc.co.uk' box. Click on this. The site now knows you're a subscriber BUT you have to do everything again re selecting bctv. Daft? Yes. It works though.
Guest Robin in Qatar Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 Thanks. Every time I go on it keeps asking me to updating my details so I never know if I'm logged on! Need to listen to the Wolves game tonight.

brady bunch Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 for £50 a year you can sign up to something like NordVPN, which is a bit of software that sits on yuor computor and can allow you to relocate around the world (computer wise), handy if you are overseas and want to see BBC or Netflix (you simply click onto the UK on the map and it puts your computer address there and hey presto you are in the UK). Of course I would never use something like NordVPN to relocate temporarly off shore to be able to watch video streams of my favorite football team playing. that would not be cricket (even though it would be technically possible to do so!). There are other free options to get a VPN, but if you can afford the £50, its well worth getting something lke NordVPN or another similar offering. It does other fancy stuff as well like blocking ads and hiding your ID if you like going on more colourful sites. I also have zero expertise on this front, but found it super easy to install and operate.
PHILINFRANCE Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 On the subject of VPNs, a friend of mine uses HOLA which used to work wonderfully, including with the BBC. Recently, however, the BBC appear to have tightened up and my friend now receives messages, especially on 'Player', saying that the site is only available within the UK. Does anybody know if this is only relevant to HOLA?
Adz6794 Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 I use PIA (Private Internet Access) which is VPN for a variety of reasons however the market is tightening up on these, Netflix and IPlayer will still restrict access when using it. I`m hoping the BCTV+ will not be quite so wise to it but there are no guarantees. I cannot vouch for other VPN providers though so there may still be ones out there that can bypass the blocks.

So I'm guessing anyone outside the UK can't get a tv license and so therefore can't access iPlayer.

That would explain the problem with 'Player', but sporting highlights are also 'blocked'. SKY and other sites don't pose a problem, so I wondered if it was just the BBC who have tightened up.

Yes they have. But it's a constantly moving game. They block some VPN IP addresses and a VPN will move elsewhere. They aren't actually enforcing TV licenses, you just have to say you have one at the moment.
PHILINFRANCE Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 When you say 'they block some VPN IP addresses' are you referring to, e.g. HOLA itself, or the address of the computer that is trying to see the site?
