hoxton casual Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/41166186 keeps the local loan network going. Hope the new person as Bath also sees the value in taking our youngsters.
wendyredredrobin Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Thats a great appointment. Im sure Torquay will do well with these two at the helm.
1960maaan Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Really hope it works out for Qwers, liked him here and when I've heard him on the radio he talks well. Always had a soft spot for Torquay too , enjoyed trips there years ago and stayed there when we played Plymouth.
myol'man Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 ....and after all....we've got Martin Kuhl
Major Isewater Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Good luck to them . Owers is on the up .
Eddie Hitler Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 I really hope they turn it around for Torquay; their league position is shocking for a club who were a decent fourth divsion side for decades. They are currently bottom of the conference: 21 Chester 8 22 Solihull Moors 7 23 Guiseley 7 24 Torquay 3
Squire Dastardly Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Best wishes to the new team and Torquay FC. They don't deserve to be where they are and should be part of the nascent West Country revival along with Forest Green, Plymouth & Exeter.
Red-Robbo Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Gulls fans are highly suspicious of the owners there: property developers. Eyes on Plainmoor. That said, this appointment is a positive step. Recent results for them have been atrocious. guy who put 3 past them last night, was someone they let go in the Summer.
Silvio Dante Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Pleased for both and looks a decent appointment. Torquay are swimming in the lower conference/upper next level down waters and Owers will know that level. Kuhl s a highly regarded youth coach/pie eater and with Torquay being strapped, youth development will be a big part of the remit. Appointment looks to be what they need with that combo. Also great news for us. GO clearly has a good relationship with the guys here, and with loans to the national league still available (I think), I'd lay short money on Max O'Leary and at least one other (as well as Dowling) getting good experience at that level very soon
hoxton casual Posted September 13, 2017 Author Posted September 13, 2017 I only remember Martin Kuhl as a right bruiser in midfield. Gary Owers top bloke, hope he does well.

The council owns the freehold and shows no sign of giving it up. That's the best security that the club has.
GrahamC Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Agree with all the good wishes & hope we can get a good relationship going now to loan them a few more.
'Orns Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Knew they were struggling, but was shocked to see how badly when I had a look at the table last night Echo what others have said about Owers, a top guest on commentary. Hope he and Kuhl pull it off and keep them up
RedRock Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Great appointments. Come on Torquay. Get up that table now. Hope to see some of our own down there before too long under their stewardship. Nice Club.
Sweeneys Penalties Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 I have relations in Torquay and have been aware of their issues for some time. It's a good step for Owers and Kuhl.. and if they make a success of the job here under some pretty adverse circumstances, they'll be prime candidates for a better position elsewhere
EstoniaTallinnRed Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 All the best Gary, always points out any problems when co commentating on RB and gives experienced opinions, I really hope you can put the Gulls where they rightfully belong, back in the FL. Start by asking LJ for some of our young blood, who will get some good experience in your team.

I think the owner has made their intention crystal clear by naming their holding company "Riveria Stadium Limited"! No mention of Torquay FC or football...
Red34 Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Really good luck to Owers - liked him at City and hopefully we can help him drag them back to the Football League where hopefully they can be protected from vultures. Maybe the vultures could instead go back to one of their old targets? From the Torquay forum: "The man behind this company Clarke Osborne has now set up a new company "Riviera Stadium Limited".Gaming International Limited was once known as Bristol Stadium PLC.Clarke Osborne was a director of Bristol Stadium PLC when Bristol Rovers could no longer afford to pay them the rent in 1986. Rovers were forced to play in exile in Bath for ten years." Go on, you'll be heroes...
bristolcitysweden Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Questionmark about the Torquay owners. Hopefully the boys will fare well.

Sadly, the local populace would probably support them selling it - `Why should we pay for some crappy football team` - and if the sharks at Riviera get the publicity right the sale would have to happen as it would be political suicide if it didn`t. End of the road for them then I think sadly.

Bubbling along quite nicely in the lower leagues for 80 years, but their last owner was a lottery winner (and not a vast jackpot at that) and then his widow. The sharks will always circle a drowning man.
alexukhc Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 Didn't realise as well as managing Bath City he was also our u15 coach
