Cider-Head23 Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 800-1000 I reckon, not the easiest of places to get to, but with our form and the feel good factor around the place I expect a few to go. I shall certainly be there.
Kodjias Wrist Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Can't see it being being anywhere near a thousand. 650 ish max and that night game quoted last season i swear was much lower than 490.
JBFC II Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 460 sold so far, beat stoke and I can't see why we can't add another 500 on to that

Silvio Dante Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Norwich and Ipswich two Saturdays in a row makes this a big ask for me, even in current form. Would expect people to choose one or the other in a lot of cases due to the time/expense, so hitting 1000 would be a fantastic turnout

Turbored Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Should all try and make the trip if you can , its nowhere near as difficult to get as it used to be. The A11 is now dual all the way to Norwich with the bottleneck at Barton Mills alleviated so if you can clear the M25 with no probs you should be clean through. When i went up on bank holiday Friday it took me only 3 and half hours from Chepstow , i did leave at 730am though.

If any of them bothered to look at stats they would realiae this. We were around mid table for away attendances last season which is decent for a club who have really struggled the last two seasons.
Offside Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 I've never been to Carrow Road and this was on my list of away trips this season, but I now can't make it there on Saturday. Gutted - I've always enjoyed away games in far flung places (although I've gone off visits to Ipswich, where we always seem to lose).

Think it's the away crowds which separate us from some of the truly big clubs in this league. On our day our away support is amazing and some of the numbers we've taken ie 5500 to MK, 4700 to Sheff Wed, 4000+ to Coventry are phenomenal. However, we don't do it on a consistent basis. The like of Leeds, Sheff Wed etc would never 'only' take 650 to Wolves or 500 to Norwich/Ipswich. Our home crowds are impressive now but away from home we lack consistency in numbers! That said, see you all at Ipswich!

We usually have one or two huge away attendances a season like MK or Coventry where 3000+ go. I wonder if it's partly down to the demographic - we seem to have lots of older fans watching our games who might not fancy longer away days. Clubs like Leeds seem to have loads of 18-35 year olds who might have more time/inclination/disposable income to travel around the country.

I think there is a mentality amongst a lot of the lads I know that one or two games a season are 'picked' or singled out as being big games for whatever reason and EVERYONE goes. I really like my Tuesday night away games (especially train up to London and back) as you tend to get a bit more of an 'adult' atmosphere. No families or kids just lads. Wolves was actually decent the other night - and for once pretty much everyone STOOD - more of that please!
Mr Popodopolous Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 I wonder why it is. Bristol is quite a youthful city I would think, relatively so I wonder why the age range of our fanbase? Indeed according to the census the average age here is 33 as opposed to England & Wales average of 39.
SedRA Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Don't forget clubs like Leeds etc tend to have fans all round the country so you'll normally get a good number added onto the away support from locals.

Looking around at home games there seems to be far more 45+ than 18-35. Maybe it's because lots of people living and working in Bristol aren't originally from the area but have moved due to work. Major Isewater Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Carrow Road is a super ground close the centre of Norwich and the train station. If you can make a weekend of it , lots of old pubs , the broads and seaside resorts full of charm . If you like a sausage , and who doesn't ? , buy a hot dog from Norfolk Banger stop on the Market.

Better than many but miles behind clubs like Leeds and Wednesday. Thats always been the way though. Robin101 Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Remember that a lot of our fans are from Somerset and further west/south than Bristol. That's superb, 2/3 of away games in excess of 1k. Well before my time but I assume- when clubs got whole ends and it was standing behind goals- we took some massive followings then? Port Said Red Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 I am hoping to do more away games when I retire/semi retire in the next couple of years. Currently it's difficult for me to justify going to an away game when I spend 100+ nights away from home with work. I occasionally get lucky and have an away game close to where I am working, otherwise I have to suggest making a weekend of it to my lovely wife to get to see a game. Hmmmmm she does quite like Norwich............. Will be finding a stream for the Ipswich game as NTTDS has pointed out it is being shown in Europe.
Red Army 75 Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 I use to do between 5 and 10 away games a season. All over the place. Last couple of seasons I probably done 3 or 4 . Haven't missed a home game for years. But I've seemed to have lost my excitement of going away. Maybe it's because I have a child now who's a season ticket holder. Who only goes away if I drive. To young for the fun bus . Going to try harder

Rob k Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 My away trips have got less and less, I will do 3 or 4 I suppose this year. I like getting on the mini bus or train and have a few beers etc and make a whole day of it, however these days cost approx £150 sheets once match ticket is included. I also could not care less where we play, one of my fav days in recent years was an away trip to Gillingham in the JPT!!

Enough time to get a quick drink before the game anyway. It's a good service - plugs on board, drops you off and collects you near the ground. Would always choose that over National Express.

You see those figures for Burnley being the most well supported prem club if you divide attendances by population of a town. I think ours would be on the low end of that equation. As shown by the Wembley attendances; we do have lots of 'supporters' it's just turning those people into fans who attend every week.
