Kodjias Wrist Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 Just saw an interview with Dyche where he mentioned his name. No idea he was a goalkeeping coach at Burnley and got me thinking, what happenes to him? Did Phillips replace him?

Shame because Billy the Fish would have been a legend here.
Northern Red Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 Brilliant keeper in his short time with us, as good as any I've seen in a City shirt.

nickolas Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 Always remember Brentford away. Mercer came flying out to clear the ball into the stands. Pointed at the Brentford fans just before he connected and drilled a beauty straight into them. They went beserk, we pissed ourselves!!!
Loco Rojo Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 For me he was the best City keeper I've seen in the few games he was here - would have been class. A real shame he got injured - in the shower wasn't it or something? Went on to coach at Wolves but didn't realise he's now at Burnley.
Robbored Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 Mercer had a some kind of deep seated groin injury that couldn't be fully diagnosed and therefore not treatable. He retired prematurely. Glad he's still in the game tho.
And Its Smith Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 Credited with turning Heaton from a decent champ keeper into top five English goalkeepers.
Dollymarie Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 He did his groin in. I know this because at the launch of the now SC&T back in 2005 he came to the evening we put on where loads of ex players were invited. My mum drunkenly asked him why he didn't play for us anymore, he said he'd done his groin in, my mum may have offered to rub it better for him. I may have wanted the floor to swallow me up!
nebristolred Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 Yeah what was the deal with that number 2? Really bloody annoyed me.

Packman Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 I think I remember him breaking down in tears when being interviewed on the pitch after announcing his retirement. Nice to see he's still involved in the game and passing on his experience to others, top player.
Guest Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 Decent right hook as well. Just ask Steve Jones
