Our Last QF against Bradford

I remember going up for this game midweek packed into a 'cowshed' stand behind the goal. Walshy scored early on and we defended fairly comfortably for the rest of the game. Arguably a greater achievement then as we were 3rd Div and clubs didn't put out reserve players so much although I don't think we came across any top-flight clubs until we played Forest in the semis.

Big fluorescent red digital clock / timer that took an eternity to change the minutes !!

Walshy scored far too early

Took us about 8 hrs to crawl back through the night in horrendous fog

Great memories

Yup, spent most of the match just wishing the time away. I remember being on the coach stuck in traffic near the ground and all you could see in any direction were cars with city scarves and loads and loads of company vans with the Bristol 0272 dialling codes bring more fans. Great night.

Most of the vans and mini buses got trashed by the upset Yorkies !!!

Went to every game of that cup run. Ties were two legged for the first couple of rounds.

Exeter, Oxford, Palace, Tranmere, Bradford and then Forest in the semi's.

Bradford away is one of my all time favourites.

The atmosphere on the terraces was unbelievable!

Must have sung "when we see City win the Littlewoods cup, we shall not be moved" continuously for what seemed the whole game, as I can remember?

I was in the stand, it was obviously over subscribed too many bods not enough seats. It looked like it was all going to kick off when Walshy scored.........all fine and dandy after that !

IIRC, we had to battle our way out of Valley parade as their idiots were waiting outside for us. It was a great night though. EEEEEEEE AAAWWWWWW.

Funnily enough, my other lasting memory of that night was the Tom Thumb doobeedoobeedoooo  going on for ages! We need to bring that back.

I've heard it a few times this season, I just think the issue is that a lot of people have no idea how it goes. Shame as its one of my favourite City songs.

Remember coaches arriving late and dropping us off at end of the road with Police & stewards telling us to run to the turnstiles or we would miss the start........... Bradford were flying high in the 2nd div at that point so were massive faves to go thru to SF......long time watching that clock.....

Yeah, it was hectic outside after- followed by a very cold but very happy drive home!

I also cut my head on those weird cacti things they had on top of their fencing celebrating the goal.

Brian Clough took the media attention away from our giant killing that night by punching his own fans on the pitch.

What a night that was!

Am sure there's a story about Bradford ringing down to Ashton Gate to ask how many were coming, to which the response was 50.....50 fans? No, 50 coaches....cue stunned silence at the other end!

It was packed like sardines that night, scoring early didn't help, JJ got into a scrap/melee after going in on their GK IIRC.....no one gave us a chance, we played like trojans.

One of my favourite games ever!

Terrible coach journey up, just made it for KO after a police escort, it was amazing to be in that "shed", proper fans singing non stop. Bradford had beaten Everton and Spurs at the Valley Parade and were very confident of beating us, oops. JJ had the 2nd beat elbows in football, after big Fash the Bash.

Thought Carl Shutt could have had more influence in the 2nd leg vs Forest given more game time BUT thats another discussion.....

We came back minus a window on our coach, the lad sat next to the window was arrested for jumping out of it and chasing the stone thrower, he was released at midnight think we got back at about 5.30am, it was one of the best away games ever. I seem to recall a Bradford fan was stabbed that night and he was hanging around Bradford magistrates court when I took my mate back up for his court appearance, he was surprisingly friendly though !!!!
