I’m not so sure we need a Bannan / Tomlin type creator

I Think part of the problem last season (Till the porky got dropped) was consistently giving Tomlin the ball to try his tricks and satisfy his ego

For me we play at our best and are scintillating when we pass and move and I’m not sure a  ball wanting midfield ball player would be what we want - think we’d be better looking for somebody who likes to pay pass and move who fits into our main ethos

For that reason Ryan Woods would still be very high on my wish list

Add a sharp finisher to this (fully fit)  squad and another midfielder and this squad wouldn’t be far off next season

The team is based on pass and move, press, screen, high tempo at its best ... A specialised playmaker could change everything negatively.

I get what you mean by Woods does not make lots of passes that penetrate defences, he keeps it simple and quick. He is very flexible and would improve City ... Think he will move to a team with more stature/clout/call it what you want.

I still think Daniel Johnson would suit us down to the ground. Exactly what we need.

Ryan Woods is a good shout too. Operated at right back for Shrewsbury for a long time. Shame he's ginger though.

I think Daniel Johnson gave one of the best displays of midfield play at AG this season.  Only just behind Pogba and Pack

Yeh I guess he is Norwich's jewel. But, as has been mentioned in other threads - the big transfers in the Championship in January tend to be teams high up the table taking the star players from those lower down.

Luke Freeman anyone? :laughcont:

On this note, it’s nearly the 3rd Jan and we haven’t been linked with any Barnsley players yet. Come on people, get a move on.

We are certainly in a strong position at the moment, if the money and personal terms are right then i dont see why we couldn't sell the move to Woods.. lets be honest he has as good of a chance here at BCFC than many others can offer in the Championship of playing in the top flight next season.. i can see us spending fairly big this January aswell tbh

I don't think he was ever the same after he went on the X Factor

A player I have said about previously who I think we should be trying to sign is Ryan Ledson at Oxford.

Admittedly he is a player if first heard of on FIFA and champ manager but he is a player destined for the top. Was shocked when I seen he had permanently with Oxford where he had been on loan from Everton.

Right age and willing to drop divisions to play regular football at his age would suggest the right attitude to go with the ability.

Long been an admirer of Ledson. Quality footballer and really surprised me that he left Everton. I think he had a problem with David Unsworth in their youth setup and moved on.

Suggesting various decent creative  midfielders is all very well but players of the required talent very rarely become availble during the winter window. Add to that the question if whether LJ actually agrees that the midfield requires strengthening may be an explanation if it doesn't happen.

With the way we play now I think we have to be even more selective in terms of any 'creative' player we bring in. A lot of our success this season has been down to the way we have been pressing the ball so much better than last year and bringing in a player with a Tomlin-esque work ethic off the ball could ruin that. Johnson at PNE would get my vote but it would take crazy money to get him in January.

LJ has been quoted as saying he wants to add a midfielder .
