Why are Fulham doing this? Because they are in with a shout for promotion and are going all-guns, no-stone-unturned, foot-to-the-floor, all-out to get promoted, they desperately want to be promoted this time and they want any and every little advantage they can muster.

Why are we not putting on dirt-cheap travel to away games? Er, well....ahh, umm.....

I'm sure we'll do this when, er, when we're "specifically targetting" promotion!

We don’t have the sponsorship that will pay for the travel Fulham haven’t set this up the sponsors have as a bit of PR. Same as Bet365 with Stoke. Stoke or Fulham wouldn’t have come up with the idea

In the meantime, Melksham v BoA looks a bargain at less than the price of a programme and a tea at Ashton Gate.  Minimal driving, free parking, a fierce some derby with not a PC in sight, a bumper crowd .... bloody sight better than a 10 hour round trip to some God forsaken Avonmouth on the NE Coast ...

I’d far rather go to Middlesbrough, or anywhere else that City are playing, but thanks for the heads up anyway.

Hello,

As I have said on other threads before, I really like it when I see clubs do things like this. When I was working at Arsenal the Premier League gave a pot of money to each club to run initiatives such as this for fans who traveled away, sometimes it was funded by a club partner, but it was never funded by the club itself.

If I'm being honest its unlikely anything will be done this season, but I have had initial conversations with the commercial team at Bristol Sport to see if there are any opportunities to see how we could look to bring in a new club partner who could help our fans in this way.

In the meantime i'm going to drop the Fulham SLO a line to see if I can get some background on their travel scheme.

Not entirely sure that's correct.

By which I mean- a quick Google search suggests that the FREE travel is in line with sponsors, but there's nothing specific to suggest the £5 travel offer is linked to said same sponsors (Grosvenor Casino).

They did subsidised travel away to Derby and Norwich last season too- a time at which they were NOT sponsored by Grosvenor.

Are our fans really treated that badly by the club? This thread title is making out that Fulham do everything for their fans & they never have any negative issues but I’m sure they have their fair share of fans that are unhappy with season ticket prices or the amount of away supporters allocation or general matchday prices etc.

It’s simply not possible to do everything for every supporter.

Out of interest, are Fulham still getting Premier League parachute payments?

It’s also interesting to see the majority of posters on a thread such as this, pleading for discounted this & free that, haven’t seen fit to contribute a fiver to the running of this forum and are happy for other people to take care of covering those costs for them as well..!

@Tipps69 I think this is their first year without...However, the system has changed a few times down the years, so they maybe in receipt of some!

I could see they were in receipt of them last season but couldn’t find anything about who was still getting them this season.

Fulham’s owner is an owner of some American sports teams isn’t he? So isn’t short of a few quid & will be well aware of how he can move a few quid around (if needs be) & correct me if I’m wrong but Fulham don’t appear to be one of the best supported clubs in the division (home or away) & maybe this is their way of enticing a few more fans to back the club?

Maybe we don’t think that giving away free coach travel will entice that many more supporters to attend the games or that any such funds would be better spent elsewhere?

I’m just trying get my head around why people feel the need to beat the club with any stick possible? If you commit to attending an event, you don’t tend to wait around until the last minute in the hope of getting something discounted, we have had a really good season compared to recent seasons but rather than embrace it & go with the flow, let’s find something else to moan about.

I’m sure if we were in Wolves position people would be still complaining.
