Urgghhh you never know, some people eh? https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/weird-news/woman-proudly-boils-dirty-knickers-18864602 Have heard this before from a friend who worked in the hospitality industry. Quite common apparently. You can also add hotel room cups as well - they are usually washed in the bathroom and dried with the towel that's just been replaced. (Clue: you don't see loads of replacement cups or tea towels on housemaids' trolleys). And don't even think about mattresses, food from the kitchens, men peeing in the sink etc..) I recall reading an article warning of the sanitary levels of hotel room TV remote controls. Too many bored businessmen channel surfing PPV porn whilst partially occupied. May be less of a problem in current times with them brining laptops for one-handed surfing.
The Dolman Pragmatist
Pleased to see this little oasis of concern about sanitary standards, but how many make users of the toilets at Ashton Gate wash their hands? Less than half I’d guess. But then when the ‘dryers’ give you first degree frostbite, there isn’t much of an incentive. My lad usually gives up and finishes drying his hands on my jeans,
Robbored
When I was student I lived in a large shared nurses home. There were many Filipino female nurses who did their own cooking in the communal kitchen - none of us lads bothered to cook anything but we would often scrounge off the girls who were only too happy to feed us. A pal and I went into the kitchen looking for grub one day and as usual there were three saucepans bubbling away on the cooker but no-one watching them so we lifted up the lids. One had rice the other a curry of some sort but we couldn’t tell what was cooking in the third so using a wooden spoon we tried to stir it and realised it was several pairs of knickers! A bit more hygienic than a hotel kettle I guess!

Umm, sorry sir for reading something attributed to a reputable organisation (RNLI) and believing it (that said it appears the story was true, just a few years older than anticipated ) In future I'll read reports then wait a few weeks incase of amendments or retractions before I repeat them, apart from that how the fA*k else should I check? … Maybe make a few phone calls to head offices etc? Anyway, the RNLI story, now seems to have occured during the 1980s … a source tells me it was down to a character from a Liverpool tv soap, Bread, known as Lilo Lil .. I believe this to be true, given the name etc.. No need to check.

Gullibility like this shows just how easy it is for the media to manipulate people. Apply some basic critical thinking or you'll continue to be easily misled. Both were reported on more than one occasion by major news outlets, not just of the 'shit rag' variety, at what point are we supposed to accept what we read, hear and see and from which organisations? Is there any point in reading, watching, listening to any news stories then? Should we all join The Donald's 'fake news' brigade? We all know not everything in news media is to be believed but are we only to believe the obviously plausible ones or is it just possible that some of the 'highly improbable' ones as you call them could fall into the 'strange but true' category ? Are facts sometimes stranger than fiction? Bet you dont believe spaghetti grows on trees do ya? - well you're wrong mate cos I seen it with my own eyes on TV years ago so there. TBF the story originated in the Falmouth Packet - it was all over the news down here a week or two ago until it was rubbished by the RNLI/RNAS Culdrose
