Died today apparently - only 40. No age at all. Blimey. A name we'll all know from his time with the sags. Rest in Peace.

Former Championship striker Junior Agogo has reportedly passed away, aged 40.

The Ghanaian striker suffered a stroke back in 2015 which left him debilitated just two years after retiring from playing.

According to a number of reports in Ghana, he passed away in London on Thursday morning.

Agogo was a star of the national team and the poster boy of the 2008 African Cup of Nations hosted in Ghana.

He scored 12 goals goals in 27 caps during the height of his career between 2006 and 2009.

Agogo enjoyed the best spell of his career with Nottingham Forest between 2006 and 2008, scoring 20 goals for the club.

RIP Junior. Sounds like he really suffered with the stroke and then aphasia.

Given he had his longest spell at Rovers I'm surprised they've just tweeted about buying tickets for the Oxford game instead of paying tribute to him like his other former clubs have

Yes - that struck me as a bit odd. Maybe they just hadn't heard yet.

R.I.P. Junior. You have to say the gas have turned up some great strikers over the years and he was one of them. Clearly remember Junior in a brilliant battle with Matt Heywood when we had a friendly against the gas at the Mem. Also saw him playing for Forest at an away game against us at. Very sad to lose someone at such an early age.

Agogo was reported as feeling abandoned by former clubs, his national team and friends in the game after his health took a turn of the worse.

There’s a cautionary tale in there. I hope we are doing more to reach out to former legends/players - we have been famously bad at this in the past.

It is shocking when you hear of players you have seen playing dying so young. Yes 40 is no age but I hope he had a life where he achieved what he wanted, to play football, and his family members can be comforted by that. RIP Junior.

Very sad news for someone just 40 years old.

We get caught up with all the football stories of wealth and greed but it sounds like Agogo died with relatively little to his name.

Like wider society, some do well and others less so.

RIP to a young man and an excellent footballer.

Not totally convinced clubs should be held responsible for players afterwards, I know other industries wouldn't and think that would be unfair.

Agogo was a very good striker in his day, pace, power, great eye for a goal. 40 is so young, RIP Junior.

Very sad. 40 is no age and given my own similar health scare today at only slightly older an age, all feels very close to home. Thoughts to his family. RIP.

Dr Balls hoping you're able to receive the care needed to remain healthy.

Very Sad News - Was A Proper Player For Rovers And Loved By All Of Them From What I Have Read,

RIP - far too young to go go. Thoughts are with his family, friends and all those that knew him in the football world.
