Kalas How long then ?

What do you reckon.  I recall from the murky past there are different types of hamstring strains.

I am guessing it will be properly looked at very early this week, Bank Holiday or not, at the hospital they use

Best case scenario and worst?  4 weeks out ?   Wishing for 3 days but.........

Worst case is months unfortunately

Packs is a Grade 3 and expected out for 2 months and he wasn’t sprinting

That`s what I thought - clutching at straws really.

If he was stretchered off, then it’s more like 8-10 weeks at least. As that would appear to be a grade 3 tear.

8-10 also takes into account getting match fit again. Speaking from my own experience, a grade 3 tear is extremely painful.

There are different types or grades of a hamstring injury from a mild strain. Lvl 1 a partial tear lvl 2 and a full muscle tear lvl 3.

The higher the grade the longer it takes to heal and if Kalas is grade 3 he’ll be out for several weeks.

Who has said a month?

Is this from some guy on twitter who allegedly spoke to TK after the game?  I saw a tweet last night, can’t find it now.

If so, TK himself wouldn’t know at that point, so I don’t think anyone knows at this point and it’s all speculation.

Are we even certain it was a hamstring?? Has it been confirmed anywhere?? Thankfully we have an international break coming up. It'll be a real blessing.

It looked high up from one camera angle in terms of where he was holding it, so could be groin, or whatever that muscle thing is that goes down the inside of your thigh (no, not that one ?).

I think I’ll just wait for official word on this one.

I’ve done hammers and been back quickly, and I've done hammers that take a lot longer.

If that's the case and it's his Psaos muscle group, that would be worse news.

It was Gregor McGregor who said he spoke to Kalas who replied a month and hoped to be back for Preston. However, I suspect that was, wishful on his part, but none of us will know until properly diagnosed.

On that response, I reckon you might know a bit in this area!!

Psoas group runs deep from the sides of your stomach right down into the groin. It's a very deep muscle within the human body and an absolutely pain in the ass to try and treat. For athletes who have suffered psoas/iiliopsoas injuries, it takes daily routines to keep the muscle group in a healthy state (well that's what Athletes should be doing to minimise the risk of injuring the area again).

Didn’t Pisano have a torn hamstring the season before last? He came back and then made the injury worse if my memory serves me correctly.

He was out for about 5 months in total.

If it’s a nasty tear, then I wouldn’t imagine Kalas will be 100% ready to go until after Xmas.

Hamstrings are a delicate muscle compared to a lot of others. If the above is true, someone from the medical team should have been sacked over that.

Pisano ripped his hamstring off the bone. Very different.

Just re-read. Yes he had a slight hamstring injury and played v Brentford where he really stretched and ripped it off the bone.

Is there anything a player can do to try and guard against this type of injury? Seems to happen quite a bit and can have a huge impact on teams ...

Not really, can happen to anyone anytime

Is there any chance of it being some kind of miracle and his muscle just severely spasmed making everyone think he had torn it only to dissipate by the evening, allowing him to go town with his teammates?

Im trying to outdo the OP in the Optimist stakes ?

Lots of people saying 1 month, 3 months etc, yet we don't know exactly what injury he has, or how severe it is

What I do know is he was out in town last night with some of the other players  and was walking ok, and not on Crutches .

You sure ?

The way he pulled up looked a lot worse than just a regular pulled hamstring.

As I said, don't know the extent. But he wasn't on crutches last night.

Let's hope the stretcher was all precautionary and its a pull.

.....or are we not that lucky?

Well, if you saw him walking in town last night then its a good sign.

I expected him to be on crutches.

Although I’m one of the few that rated Marlon I cannot remember ever seeing him sprint!

Only time I saw him really sprint was after Villa away last season when he hared it past me as I was filing out of Villa Park - on his way to get to a car back to Bristol as his wife had gone into labour. Never saw him show that sort of pace on the pitch, mind!

If the bottom half is true then he's completely fine and will be playing Saturday but find that difficult to believe.

I know he's pivotal but it's really important we don't rush him back too soon.

This Saturday might class as too soon even if the situation better than hoped/feared. If in doubt, sit it out and clearly not sufficiently fit for the national team either! Be a bit cute, rested and recuperated for Stoke away.

I was out in town Sunday and happened to be in the same place as all the City team.  Spoke to him myself and he said he was ok and it was going to be about 1 month.  So hopefully with international break it could only be 2 or 3 games out.

Misses Boro, Stoke and Swansea and back for the PNE game hopefully.

Just need Nagi back asap..

Really??? So he does his hamstring Saturday gets strechered off and then is out on the town the next day with the lads but is out for a month.... Hummmmm I'm not so sure about that love to see pictures as I'm not so sure LJ and co would be to impressed with our 8million pound signing.

Out in town and out on the town are not necessarily the same thing.

well my mate got some pictures with the city lads (Kalas being one).  They were there from 4pm to about 8:30pm, would of thought they went home after that but cant confirm that! Some of them were pretty drunk, some looked like it was a more sociable drink in the sun enjoying a good DJ set.  Spoke to him myself and definitely said 1 month.  if you really don't believe me then that's up to you but I am not going to plaster pictures on here when they were good enough to have them taken with people.

So conclusion would be they were just out and not out out!

Not keen on players drinking during the season tbh, especially so early. Just a personal view though.

Without betrayal of confidence, would you say Kalas was one of those who was pretty drunk?

Well true Bob, shows a great team spirit to round off a great week and on the road- excellent signs for togetherness and harmony.

Just not convinced about players drinking alcohol in-season but perhaps that's an overcautious view to take.
