East Londoner
So the Abu Dhabi report is out and it tells us nothing we didn’t already know. Quite why that took till March is anyones guess but would’ve been nice to have heard from Michael Masi about his thought process as we’ve heard from everyone else

Ferrari powerplant looks strong Okay what is Magnussen driving under that Haas livery? They could be an interesting one to watch Really disappointing for McLaren though they look off it already, not even Riccardo and the disadvantage he had but Norris' car doesn't seem that quick either. Mercedes struck lucky in 3rd practice

Yeah you could tell even just by how much they gained back in P2 to P3 and to qualifying it won’t be too long, but from a title perspective both driver and constructor how much ground might they lose

I'm not sure they will be - it depends on the fundamentals of their package and if it isn't working now, there's no reason to believe they will claw back any significant advantage any time soon. The power unit looks down on the others as well. That FIA report basically confirms a big fat asterisk next to Verstappen's title too. Not that it's Verstappen's fault at all, he was without doubt a worthy champion, but it shows what a balls up that race was. I'm not a fan of Verstappen, but at least he will almost certainly get another world title - it would be quite unfair on him if this turned out to be his only one, while being forever tainted. Vettel was the same during his Red Bill days and weirdly once he joined Ferrari he came across as a decent guy and continues to do so. Maybe it’s the environment there

Maybe it’s the environment there Definitely. This probably sounds a bit harsh on Max, the guy is undoubtedly extremely talented. But he's not exactly got the best tools in life for being a decent person when your bosses are Christian Horner and Helmut Marko, and your dad is a man who once fractured a man's skull and assaulted 2 of his partners. It's no wonder that he's a bit of a jumped up tw*t.
hinsleburg
Not sure what it was but just couldn't get into yesterday's race, found the bigger cars looked slower and didn't seem as enjoyable as the last few years, felt like I was watching an IndyCar race at times. Which is weird because the actual Race itself should have been really good, Leclerc and Verstappen's battle was good throughout and seems like cars are able to follow better which is promising. Hopefully just a one week thing and once adjusted can get back to enjoying it for the rest of the season, thought Mclaren would be off the pace yesterday but wasn't expecting that at all! Does feel great now that I can want Haas to do well again!
WarksRobin
Some interesting thoughts from yesterdays race: Merc engine in last 6 finishers. is the factory merc pace affected by engine as much as the porpoising effect Pace gap between tyre types seems larger than last year, starting on medium was a major factor in McLaren positions Red bull didn’t do a race sim in pre season. Rumours they simply ran out of fuel yesterday Great to see Ferrari back at the front
Port Said Red
Probably a dumb question but I am not really a car man, but how do those new designs not interfere with the drivers vision?

slartibartfast
What grinds my gears (no pun etc) is Norris hardly gets a mention, he had an excellent season last year but he may as well be invisible! But of course we've now got the new wonder boy Russell for the hacks to spunk over ( and of course ,it doesn't do him any harm that he's LH's running mate )!

Admin Maesknoll Red Posted April 10, 2022 Admin Report Share Posted April 10, 2022 That was an interesting interpretation of the rules today, Stroll pitted under a safety car, swapped hards for mediums, pitted next time round and swapped back to hards, covering off his use of two tyre types in one lap under the safety car. Obviously OK, but is that the spirit of the rule, maybe they should set a lap limit, or that you must complete at least one lap under race conditions.
