It would be a very different game. Some players would certainly not make a career in football without heading. Sheltons Army
Would turn the game into a farce - how can football be played without heading - seriously Will become a massive 5 a side type game - boring and a total different version of the sport Publicise all research and if people wish to partake it’s their choice Same as a rugby , boxing , TT racing , MMA, rock climbing , driving a car , or taking up smoking The worlds gone potty
mozo
I think I've mentioned before there are reasonable measures to limit the damage incurred. If player do minimal heading in training, that reduces the risk. Specialist head guards could he used for heading training to soften the impact. Head guards could be optional for players in games a la rugby, only they would have to be thinner and designed for a true contact. Much more likely than a heading ban imo

Dunno if anything more came if that though.

My first thought, Aden Flint, Don't think heading will be taken out of the game, they'll devise new lighter balls or headgear before that happens. Not sure about Flint as he scored as many goals with his feet for us as he did with his head, with volleys, half volleys, back heels and rabolas amongst them. Good point and I'm not an expert in medical sports science (or anything really!), but I think all of these things will be explored and the problem mitigated as best they can. Head guards in football would be a unique proposition, and I'm sure Canterbury, the company that design the Cech headgear are all over this opportunity. Mr Popodopolous
I would have thought heading is on the decline a bit already, probably one of things the higher you go, the less prevalent- nothing to do with medical reasons, but thought it's on the decline a bit as the game has become more technical, less wingplay, more playing through the thirds- less emphasis on true wingers and high crosses in particular- maybe the PL an outlier but other top level football, reckon it's declined in the PL too. At present the long ball game is not fashionable and is easy to defend if you’ve got a couple of central defenders who are good in the air. Imagine the game without heading. Teams could just fire long balls into the opposition’s half and the defenders couldn’t head them clear. They would have to let the ball bounce and try to get it under control - i.e. a recipe for defensive chaos. As the old adage goes, never let the ball bounce, head it clear
