Yet Joey tried to defend it saying contact was minimal - and Loft said he was protecting himself.

Barton’s an absolute bellend and his hilarious to listen to

Any decent Manager would fine his player two weeks wages for talking absolute shit. Hopefully they put an extra game on the van for a frivolous appeal.

Just can’t help himself.

Despite claiming to be a "professional" Joey seems to not know the laws of the game.

Careless, reckless, using excessive force

“Careless” means that the player has shown a lack of attention or
consideration when making a challenge or that he acted without precaution.
No further disciplinary sanction is needed if a foul is judged to be careless
“Reckless” means that the player has acted with complete disregard to the
danger to, or consequences for, his opponent.
A player who plays in a reckless manner must be cautioned
“Using excessive force” means that the player has far exceeded the necessary
use of force and is in danger of injuring his opponent.
A player who uses excessive force must be sent off

Charging an opponent
The act of charging is a challenge for space using physical contact within
playing distance of the ball without using arms or elbows.
It is an offence to charge an opponent:
in a careless manner
in a reckless manner
using excessive force

Given the players arm is at shoulder height/above, and he appears to be aiming the elbow at the head of the completely unprotected keeper, this looks every bit as it satisfies both careless and reckless.
Given also he is jumping, leads with his elbow and knows the keeper is there I think you can easily argue excessive force.

I guess the secret to being Joey Barton is to genuinely not give a toss about anyone but yourself.......

Well in the words of Joey himself from a few games ago "you're just hiding behind the rules" ?

This post-match stuff with him threatening (allegedly) one of the Lincoln players is getting a fair bit of traction on social media. Let`s hope the EFL pick it up.

They could check the court records to see if he has a history of (alleged) violence against opposition players or coaching staff.

Just seen it on the highlights show, dirty ******* *******! There's 0 need for his elbow to be that high, then explain why he actually moves it and elbows the keeper, if the elbow/arm doesn't move that's one thing but adding the motion shows what his intent was, the fact that Barton is defending it is a ******* joke while unsurprising. He's in full on protection mode probably realising that he's under some pressure now so nothing can be his/his squad's fault.

Bang on the money. People go on about Warnock but Barton is the biggest shithouse in football bar none..........and there's nobody remotely close to him.

I think you are being kind! From when i first heard about him (cigar in an eye) I've been amazed hes stayed in football so long.

Perfect match for the gullible gas.

Least Warnock knew the rules as a qualified ref, Joey, however, is as thick as a Boxing Day turd.

I’ve just listened back to yesterday’s post match interview and Joey’s grounds for a red card appeal is to supply the football league with video from various angles to prove his players innocence. Best not to user this angle Joey. ?

Come on the Shrews, a few more good results to reach the P/Os and then next season visit the Gate and not the Mem!

Would love to see Cotts get them promoted. Sure he’d appreciate a visit to Bristol without some chinless Gas pricks wishing him dead as well.

A Moderator over there saying, in 2016, they were on a par with wealthy clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea....................................their forum now makes complete sense.

“Deluded Sags” is never an overused phrase, they just keep reinforcing the stereotype ?

And so does this thread, how anybody can say otherwise beggars belief.
