Gillam would have regularly interviewed Rovers manager Bert Tann, who is referencing him here. I remember Bert Tann (the real one), but couldn't place Herbert, probably because he reported on Rovers - I wouldn't have been interested. PHILINFRANCE
Back in my day, it was Peter Godsiff (City) and Robin Perry (Rovers). Re. Bert Tann (the real one), he used to live in Frenchay, and I had the pleasure of meeting him and his wife one day. I recounted the story on here some time ago, but suffice to say they were an absolutely adorable couple.

I don't know the address itself, but (coming from Downend) go left at what used to be the Hambrook roundabout, then first left heading towards Frenchay Common then left again to a little cul-de-sac with a number of real stone houses. A friend and I were collecting conkers around the Common, when my friend got hit by a falling branch. We knocked at this random house, Mrs Tann patched him up and gave us a cold drink each, before Bert Tann drove us both back to Bromley Heath. He even laughed warmly when I thanked him, but confided that I was a City supporter. As I said, a lovely couple.
