And Wally has usually backed his manager. The only issue, is that Wally isn't calling the shots anymore. And the new people couldn't get the paperwork done on for that striker they wanted. So you question how serious they are about spending money. If whoever they get in isn't a fan of the loan market and players was 2 or 3 year deals, they'll have some significant financial exposure.

Of course they are serious, they have already forked out for one permanently temporary stand, and they say they are getting a couple of payday loans to build at least one more. How can you doubt their commitment?

They sacked "call me Joe" a week before we sacked Pearson and they are still speculating who the new man might be, not even rumours of possibilities. I think the new owners are still reeling from the idea that they have to pay off the last man as well as find someone to do the job. It will be whoever the caretaker is, nobody else would touch them with a bargepole right now surely? They will then carry on in their own irrelevant manner on a footballing basis, whilst continuing to provide comedy gold for us.

How much would they have to rebuild anyway ? Wasn't their break even figure around 10k , losing money evry week and needing an entire new squad at the end of the season , big ask for someone. If it was anyone else I'd say I'd like to see Paul Cook there , Chesterfield seem to have spent nothing for 2 years and are flying in the National League. Trouble is I'd hate to see him do well there . Could be a tough summer for them, really tough

Since then wages have risen, their backroom teams have expanded, there is a training facility that needs to be paid for and a whole host of other expenses. On a much smaller scale to ourselves, they'll be losing money each and every year. The big difference is that because we develop youth players, we have opportunities to sell them to help balance the books. They've got a retirement home for the elderly and are a stopping off point for those who want to be nearer family before they retire.

Open End Numb Legs
It is a tough world to get big investment for something as relatively frivolous as a football club, but the bit I still don't get is I have seem comments on their forum that suggests they still think they are a rich club, just that they haven't decided where and how to spend it. If they had as much money as some say, they wouldn't have built a kit stand with pillars and the back room staff would have been professional with their planning permission. We are all in the food chain somewhere (eg Alex Scott), just that some of their fans pretend it is just a matter of time before they actually spend more money than Spurs on the ground. No surprise that deluded is an often used word on this thread.

Strange that isn’t it? Of course last year they thoroughly refuted the accusation that they only took 3k because it was a big, ex Prem ground they hadn’t visited for 20 years. Instead they tried to bore anyone who would listen that this was just the norm for them. Where was that 3k this year? They were bragging about selling out Reading as if it’s a major achievement

No wonder they fixate on away followings so much.

Especially when 30 years ago we'd regularly get home crowds around the 7,8,9k mark. Look at the whole structure of the club off the pitch & we are a million miles away from where we were - we just haven't found the golden formula on the pitch yet, which is frustrating, of course - but that can often overshadow all the other good stuff.
