Have they learnt nothing from Wycombe ? Anyway, lest hope this is just as premature , I do worry they have momentum on their side though. As to your question, "did they seriously do that?" Oh yes There is NOTHING decent about them, the great unwashed !

JBFC II
A comment from their Twitter page, they really don’t help themselves do they? ’We could probably fill out a 30,000 seater for occasions like this. Absolute sleeping giant we are, get us the new stadium @waelalqadi and we will be premier league in 10 years.’ Plenty of comments underneath saying that them selling out on Saturday is ‘proof they need a bigger stadium’. Who’s going to tell them that selling out a restricted capacity once a season isn’t proof you need a bigger ground… Edited May 3, 2022 by JBFC II

Darlington are now in National League North,(Tier six of the pyramid), with a white elephant of an underused stadium and so are York. Who’s going to tell them that selling out a restricted capacity once a season isn’t proof you need a bigger ground… To be fair for "occasions like this" they probably could do with a bigger ground, 12500 to 13000 should be more than ample and they haven't had a gate like that for donkeys years even when they had the capacity. They really do think they are a Sunderland, Sheff Wednesday size club when in reality they are more of a Peterborough, Rotherham size club and light years behind them two

Who’s going to tell them that selling out a restricted capacity once a season isn’t proof you need a bigger ground… They couldn’t even sell out when playing Man Utd a few years back - funny how their capacity has suddenly slipped from 12,600 to around 9,000 for no proper reason at all - allowing them to claim false ‘sellouts’ - and when Wael took over they were ‘going to be premier league within 5 years’ as the ‘6th richest club in English football’ - what happened?! Why are they now going to be ‘premier league in 10 years’?! Why has their expectations suddenly shifted to adding an extra five years on?! Oh well, the reality is they will undoubtedly still be mooching around divisions three and four for the next few decades ... shame ... Not great at timekeeping are they, what with the Fruit Market being almost a year overdue.
