If Antoine could shoot.....he'd be worth a fortune?  Ha!

Catch 22 is that if he could shoot, he wouldn't be with us!!

If he can improve that side of his game he would be a great player.

Quite possibly, NP has decided to send a few out on loan.

A bit surprised not to see Taylor Moore playing......perhaps he will be back on the squad tonight? ?‍♂️

Presumably at 24 Moore is too old for the U23s now?

No idea if any over age players are allowed?

No chance Moore will be involved tonight, IMO.

Sam Pearson.

Yep sorry guys, was rushing as my phone was about to shut down.

I was impressed, did some great work down the right in front of Taylor. Still not sure of the shape/system , at times they set as a 4-3-3. But Soady was pushing up so high the 3-4-3 seemed more likely. Kept an eye on it, and for a while it looked like if one went the other sat. So basically, I don't know what I'm talking about.

Anyway .
A first half where I though everyone looked rusty , Britton had a shot and should have scored from a header. Sheff W could have done better a couple of times and they got a few overloads, including a 4 on 1 where the Wednesday player went wide and lost the chance.

2nd half livened up Wednesday should have scored with a great break but as they worked the ball across to leave the lad with just the keeper tp beat from about 12 yards , he was a yard high. City made a few half chances but Conway coming on made a difference. Pearson latching on to a good pass (from Conway apparently) low ball around the Penalty spot, Benarous dummied and Conway slotted inside the left hand post. The 2nd was even better. With Tins in the stand shouting for a far post cross, Benarous supplies the perfect ball and Pearson sets himself before hitting a sweetly stuck volley.

Over all a deserved win for City, God that feels good to say. Walked through the door and shouted to the Wife "I've seen a City side win" ?

My stand outs.

Soady looks very good on the ball.
Taylor looked solid at RB
Morton & Owers both looked good in MF. Morton has excellent vision.
Pearson looked better and better as the game went on,.
Britton , couple of good bits of hold up play, otherwise , every touch was a shot or header at goal. Should have scored, but I can see why he gets so many.
My stand out player, even before his goal, Conway looks a player. From his touch and movement , to his passing and shooting. Really want to see more of him.
Another I want to see more of is Benarous, looks like he can cope physically, very interesting player.

Hope they do this regularly, I shall definitely go again.

I was quite impressed with our second half perfo.

Definitely lined up in a 3-4-3 formation and it worked wellthought Riley towler was superb, never lost anything in the air and was commanding all afternoon.

Conway looked good when he came on and thought owers looked a good player.

We carried more of a threat when Britton went off, more fluidity and mobility in our attacking play.

Do we specialise in small goalkeepers? Saying that his distribution was very good

Been playing 3-4-3 most of pre season and now continuing going into competitive games. I do like Soady what I have seen of him, was playing left of back 3 the couple of times I saw him pre season. I take it he was playing left wing back/midfield today ?

Owers is a lot like his dad, very competitive and likes to put his foot in.

Yeah we do seem to get quite a few small goalkeepers, Aaron Sainsbury was in the Acadamy recently and he is small in stature. He is now Paulton Rovers number one but also coached the young City Acadamy goalkeepers.

Soady did play left wing back and played very well.

I actually commented during the game how much owers looked and played like his dad! That's a compliment by the way!

Apart from spilling one ball, possibly one of the easier ones , I thought his handling was good. Came for a few crosses and claimed every one. Kicked off both feet too, handy thing to be able to do.

City just put up some highlights. I do like the look of Conway, and Benarous has some nice touches.

Thanks.

What does worry me, is that although Semenyo is back and getting minutes, his shooting, going on those highlights, seems as bad as ever!

Some  nice crosses from Pearson as well.

I wonder if Semenyo is a more natural fit as an attacking midfielder.  Other than at Bath City, he's never had the goal return you expect from a striker.

TBH I was a bit disappointed, and I may be being really unfair to Semenyo as he is coming back from an injury.
I expected him to stand out a bit, and apart from his strength he looked like he has in the first team. Direct but like he never has the ball fully under control, and his shooting is wayward. His best run is in the clip, he didn't really offer much, but as I say it could be unfair as I think that's his first game time since injury. He's shown promise and can get you off your seat, but it feels clumsy .
Conway on the other hand, his touch and movement looked smooth , made some nice runs and hit the target with every effort I believe. I hope it's rustiness , I'd love to see Semenyo come back and set the first team alight. More control and maybe relax when shooting, he's got everything else.
