They're superb atm and mostly really great to watch. Never liked them as a football club, never liked Moyes before but hard not to admire them of late and seem to have stolen our crown of the 'lesser' team to look up to, at least on the pitch. Long season but lots to envy about the way they approach games currently

We sure could’ve have had him before he went to Everton. He was on a family holiday in Florida, cut it short and was on his way to sign for us only to be told when he landed that Pulis got the job instead. If I recall correctly, that was a SL decision and it led to the other board members (Laycock and Davidson?) resigning. No guarantees he’d have done it here, but the rest as they say is history. Glad to see him succeeding and West Ham’s patience paying off.

I don't think you do recall correctly.

Laycock joined the board with Lansdown and Dawe in 1997 as a significant investor and went on to to become vice-Chairman under Scott Davidson's leadership, then chairman in 2000 when Davidson was ousted from the board before taking a back seat a year later to allow Lansdown to take over at the helm.

Pulis was appointed manager of Bristol City in July 1999, prior to the start of the 1999–2000 season.

As such I fail to see it as SL's decision.

Apparently the short list was Joe Royle, Peter Taylor, David Moyes, Tony Pulis - good grief, what a missed opportunity ... ??

Funny this is if we hadn't appointed Pulis we'd probably be saying he was a missed opportunity and what a typical cock up it was by City to not appoint him.

Promotion to the prem with Stoke, multiple good premiership finishes at different clubs, never been relegated.

Just goes to show how managers can fit some clubs and not others.

Well Im not one to look back but to think we could have had Moyes at AG . Where would we be now?

When he was manager at PNE, City did go for him, but the Preston board refused us permission to even talk with the man.
