Paterson now has 8 goals in the league this season, that’s 6 fewer than Palmer has scored in his entire career.

But he’s a “one good game in 10” player, isn’t he? ?

I think he probably needed a change of scenery to reach his full potential. It’s not like we didn’t give him enough chances!

Agree, I remember reading an interview a couple months ago and it certainly sounded like the way things happened this move has changed his mindset as a player.
Good on him and shows what can be achieved by some of these talented players if their head’s in the right place.

No. He was a good game in 15 for us. To be fair his best spell was in that three month period during the cup run . That football suited him better . Just like Swansea do.

I think it was fairly clear KP wanted to stay at Swansea and believe he still lives there, wonder if the signing of Pato effectively scuppered any chance of KP getting his move? seems to be working out well for the swans

Watch out for Michael Duff. He’s looking like a real talent . Amazing what he is doing with Cheltenham on a minimal budget .

Little stat from this wiki that is useless but I liked "He is believed to be the only player to have played in each of the top eight tiers of English football in ascending order"

Was looking him up thought I recognised his name he played 600 games for them and Burnley.

Swansea didn’t want Palmer though, did they? Just 2 starts in his loan spell there.

We were the only mugs to buy him after a loan spell, I still can’t fathom why.

Fairly sure he was discovered (along with his brother Shane) by one Steve Cotterill whilst they were both playing for Cirencester Town while Cotts was Cheltenham manager. Both played for Cheltenham and Cotts took Mike to Burnley. Not sure about Shane.

Cotts - Always a good judge of a player,

I think it was a matter of somebody had to go, not sure there was a long queue for Palmer, certainly Swansea wouldn’t want him. So Pato it was.

Question is why did we sign Palmer just after we signed szmodics plus having pato on the books. Pato ended up being the patsy because of our shambles of a recruitment policy. That’s if there was one.
Three number 10’s when we didn’t play with a number ten. We’re reaping that shit now

Absolutely. We had to get rid of Paterson because of finances - i.e. we had waste of space Palmer on the books. Palmer, who has had enough chances to impress Pearson and doesn't seem to give a **** whether he plays or not. Another wonderful example of hoarding "clubs in the bag".

We’ll it certainly wasn’t on my recommendation.

Right from the start of his loan spell you could see he was a player that was unlikely to give you too many solid 90 minute games and so it’s proved.

And we’re in the state we’re in now because of it. Which pisses me off. Don’t want to get into the debate again we’ve done it to death but it grates big time.

You remember that bloke Ashton. And our ‘amazing’ relationship with Chelski.

it was only amazing cos we shelled out about 15 million on three players. Two of whom aren’t even playing.

amazing for them. Not so good for us.

We signed Palmer and Szmodics in the same window, when we really didn’t need to.

That recklessness looks to have gone with Ashton / Johnson thankfully.

II was amazed by the difference in the two lunch time games.

In the Prem Arsenal played a sterile game v Newcastle and strolled to a win.

Meanwhile, in the Champs, Fulham went to Preston and fought out a keenly contested draw with robust tackles & challenges and both sides making chances at goal etc. It was far more entertaining.

Yep, win tomorrow (I know, I know!) and we`re up to 14th, six points off the top six, ten above the bottom three.

That's the spirit!

But, as someone on here often says......it's the hope that kills you

Geoff can't put this to Ashton now, but he might care to quiz SL on Ashton and all that, next time Steve's over and fancies a grilling

I’d like to ask him why he thought it a good idea to employ him a second time after he royally ****** up in a recruitment consultancy role in 2012/13

I’ve been watching him for a while.
Doing a fantastic job and has a great team atmosphere.
Recruited well. Loaned well. Has a smattering of academy kids in the squad.
I’ve been up to the ‘Johnny Rocks Stadium’ 3 times this season and I’ve been impressed. Especially as all 3 games were against vastly superior opposition in MK, Oxford & Rotherham.
Duff deffo seems to have something about him.

Not sure he’d ever work here though. I can’t imagine Cotterill, one of his best mates in football, recommending working under Lansdown.
But that’s a whole other argument.

He was for us. I’m sure I read that the summer gone was incredibly tough for him following his release. May be that’s given him the kick up the ass that was needed and a bit of focus. Good luck to him - for his sake.

I bet Paterson is now delighted we didnt offer him a new contract and the Boro trial was unsuccessful. Neither side would have had Pato playing been paying as well as what Swansea are imo.

According to the guy who sits behind me, KP lived in Keynsham but has just moved to Saltford.

I’ve got absolutely no idea, but surprised a player would live in either with HPC at Failand.  What a crap drive to training each day?

KP lives near Long Ashton I've been reliably told! I know a guy who lives in the same road.

He has been seen in Keynsham high street, though over a year ago. The guy behind me said KP used to live in Chandag Road, and apparently he has been seen up Manor Road playing fields with his lad.

I know a while ago he was living and his wife wanted to stay in Swansea where there baby was born, of course his family home could be in Swansea and KP has a pad he lives in during the week or they may have relocated back to Bristol now with a Swansea move not on the cards
