Will b11
Apologies if it’s been mentioned on here yet I haven’t seen anyone talk about it but was anyone on here in the police escort today from the grand hotel to the ground ?. It was quite possibly the worst route the police could’ve took us and it didn’t help them stopping every 5 minutes which resulted in everyone missing the first 5/10 mins of the game, luckily we didn’t miss anything important ! Stockwood gate
I have been thinking long and hard about posting this but today I am ashamed to be a football fan , from the behaviour of our fans on the train down to Swansea from Parkway to being rounded up outside the station to the City fans damaging the new Mercedes with the casually thrown flare onto its roof ,to the mini ambushes from the Swansea fans and the fighting between sections of fans on route to the ground , I thought the way the police handled a horrible situation well as can be expected along with the vile abuse they received from some city fans I have been supporting city 40 years and that 1 and a half hours from train arriving to kick of was disgusting

Will b11
I just posted a similar thread talking about the escort, the route they took us was right into the Swansea fan zone and that was always going to cause trouble , I thought it was poor on that front ! There are some messed up people among us.

Not been to many recently at all. Mrs lost her job and my work revenue is down still due to covid. Money really tight. Pre covid I was at most games but with a lack of money now and massively increased anxiety about it I’m really struggling to even leave the house to be honest Edited February 13, 2022 by And Its Smith 1

I’ve a family member that works in the security control at a west London team, the amount of drugs both class A & B they’re confiscating from fans at turnstiles these days is staggering. Apparently the biggest amount of grief this club has has this year on a ground security front sadly has been City and Brum. Maybe I’m nostalgic, but the only mind-bending substance people took en-route to away days when I travelled regularly was a crate of Natch

On visiting our place both Swansea and Cardiff supporters were given the freedom of Bristol to do what they liked whereas when we’ve visited Wales we’ve been kettled either before or after the game and this has magnified the behaviour of some of our less savoury fans. As for the police escort, they might as well have put a big arrow on top of the bus saying Bristol City supporters here. And after the game they had a whole two single decker buses that were absolutely rammed so was a complete shambles
Super
Haven't done an away game since Reading away a while back when some of our fans were an embarrassment. I don't miss it one bit.
Wealwayseatcheese
Sadly This behaviour is not just confined to Bristol City. It’s massively on the rise nationally , huge increases in arrests and anti social behaviour at football across the UK including drugs , pyrotechnics etc. I can see the return of restrictions again for games at Cardiff and Swansea coming in the near future. Reduced ticket allocation, RV points. I was present yesterday and went by car so didn’t witness anything until after the game when coming out Swansea fans were allowed to goad us whilst filming and waiting for a reaction. Once on the dual carriageway heading back to park and ride it was going off on a side street by a pizzeria. Plenty of police running to intervene . Robbored
The sad reality is that most clubs have an element of hooligans that just want to scrap with opposition fans particularly the two Welsh clubs and the police are aware of which matches are likely to be high risk. Only this season the Cardiff fans smashed up parts of the Atyeo concourse and the toilets. Milwall and Leeds both have reputations for trouble making. However the police do a decent enough job in protecting the public and the number of football related incidents are significantly less than the they were in the 70s and 80s. Seemed overcrowded when the train escort arrived. Gangways full and multiple people stood on concourse between levels .

It does seem to be on the rise, and incidents in the ground seem to be more common, even something as daft as running on the pitch to kick the ball off the penalty spot. It does seem to be linked to ‘marching powder’, it’s something I’ve never tried so must admit not sure what high it gives you, if it makes you more aggressive? It’s a mugs game, the amount of CCTV in and around grounds, police wearing body cam you’ll simply not get away with it now. Was meant to be going out in Leeds on Sunday afternoon, but we’ve now changed it as Leeds play Man Utd on that day.
