Englands fixtures in the Nations league

Never to the dark side

When Southgate has a multitude of players from which to choose - why select a player (Saka) and play him out of position. Either play him in his correct position or don’t play him at all!

The team should be made up of the best players in each position - not just eleven players and then put them in eleven positions - it just doesn’t work!

Its been sooooo boring!!

Fantastic group of players BUT a very poor coach.

We need the footballing equivalent of Brendon McCullum to come in, remove the fear of failure and let the players show their talent.

Southgate is too meek and conservative, he did very well to get us to a semi final and final in the last 2 tournaments but we need someone to take us to the next level and get the best out of this fantastic group of players.

How can he be very poor if he got us the final of the euros?  I’m not a massive Southgate fan but ‘very poor’ is a bit harsh

Don’t agree. Got to the final, go 1-0 after 8 mins and sit back against an aging Italian team that were never coming back from 2 or 3 down.

Poor poor coach who has achieved zero in his club management career.

Our first major final for half a decade gets no credit? Fair enough. We all see things differently. He should have managed that final differently no doubt but to get no credit for getting there isn’t right

Would not disagree. But Southgate is a ‘company’ man and his job is safe..

I sort of agree although that Italy side were very useful- look at what they did to Belgium in the quarters, we had a similar fade a'la vs Croatia 2018, Holland 2019- both semis- and even to an extent, the Euro 2020 qualifier in Prague 3 years, our midfield in these games just got gradually outmatched and outplayed and we lost control and eventually be it normal time, extra time, penalties the game. Group stage, Spinazzola fantastic outlet. They went 30 odd unbeaten for a reason.

I do think he needs to sort certain things out however.

Nobody remembers the runners - up. Particularly when England should have won.

He is paid a huge amount of money to win football matches and remember you are about to be relegated in the Nations Leauge.

Couldn’t care less about the nations league.  Hopefully we improve in the World Cup. Euros overall was positive despite the final.

It’s looked to me over the summer and tonight that  they need a new voice in charge ,

all look very ‘place assured’ , same old same old, , no new ideas or  evolving

Southgate will need a storming World Cup to keep the job

Yep. It’s all gone stale.

Players just going through the motions. Very LJ-like.
