World Cup Draw

Really interesting group I think, don't know much about Iran but they won their qualifying group and gave Portugal and Spain tough games in the last world cup, also its very close to Qatar on a map so for the first game it's going to be a challenge. USA we should beat but traditionally have done very poorly against them in world cups so hoping that record can be changed. Then the last game personally I am really up for a Scotland or Wales game to hopefully win the group and knock them out the tournament (don't think Ukraine will beat both of them away), will be tough playing a home nation but exciting and pressure in a good way I hope. A good chance the games will be tight and cagey affairs but all 4 teams will feel they can get through that group and a winnable last 16 tie.

Think Scots will beat Ukraine if it gets played but difficult to pick a winner out of them and Wales. Think Scotland have a better team but Wales have Bale and Ramsey.

Agreed I think Scotland have a good number of prem starters these days compared to recent times and without checking probably more than Wales. Also when playing away have done ok in recent times, England draw in the euros, Serbia in the last play offs and I think they beat Austria in qualifying which means beating Wales is definitely possible.

Personally speaking and probably an unpopular opinion but I would be most excited by England vs Wales in the group, have the welsh as slight favourites but the only thing that would really surprise me is Ukraine winning back to back.

Christ I hope Ukraine get through to the tournament. I absolutely hate home nations matches.

Rags like the Sun start foaming at the mouth and printing all that nationalistic bollocks in their English versions while printing the exact opposite in their Scottish editions.

If we win everyone says we should do because we are miles better and if we lose they bang on about it being the end of English football as we know it and "sports greatest upsets" programs that are the shite that fill the gaps in the shite on channel 5, have another evenings worth of material.

Ukraine all the way into the group please.

Yeh he’s done rubbish so far, only a Semi Final matching Bobby Robson and a Euros Final which no other managed has achieved, rubbish

Staggering isn't it?  If we'd won the Euros some people would have just whined about the timing of one of his substitutions and said it would've been better if Harry Redknapp had been appointed.  They must be too young to remember Graham Taylor dropping Chris Waddle for Tony Daley and playing Carlton Palmer and Geoff Thomas in midfield and leaving Gazza on the bench.  Vast majority of his decisions have been vindicated and he deserves to be supported.

Which will get as much national attention in the States as Thanksgiving does in the UK.

The USA v England game is on a Friday, isn't Thanksgiving always on a Thursday ..... so the Yanks will all be out shopping on Black Friday , as you say though the vast majority CGAF about the WC.

Went to the us cup in 93 which was a 4 team mini tournament a year before they hosted the World Cup .the vast majority of people we spoke to over there had no idea the tournament was on or who was playing and very little interest in the world cup the following year

I'm not sure that how your experience 30 years ago has much bearing on how the US currently feels about football.

Obviously football is never going to be as big as the major sports over there, but you only have to look at the attendances in the MLS (and NWSL) to see how much the sport has grown in recent times.

There will definitely be a big (relatively speaking) interest in this game, and the tournament as a whole.

Totally, 94 World Cup was a sell out in huge stadiums. 2026 will very likely be the same.

Started looking at this and don’t think getting tickets will be a issue but flights   Accommodation ect it’s certainly not going to be cheap for European traveling fans

Booked flights already for USA and final group game. Tickets will be fine - hoping to do other games in between days. Accommodation is the thing in waiting on but hopefully will become clear once I have tickets.
