April 16th 2013 - Another anniversary on the horizon:

The Original OTIB

Wade Elliott scores for Birmingham and down we go, and we never did get our own back, despite two good opportunities. Post match, it was stated thus: "It is no good having an academy if you are not ready to use the players it produces." Well, our Manager has done that this time, from necessity, but still alarmingly close to how we finished that year. That season ended with a -25 goal difference, scoring 59, others survived scoring less. Indeed, you needed 55 points to stay up that season! This season, 52 scored and -21 as it stands. If you do not build solid foundations from the back, get ready for sh*t creek, and no means to propel nor navigate. Alarmingly, we still have not sorted out the right back position, quite staggering really. Some say we have improved by scoring more. Irrelevant if you can't defend. It all feels quite familiar in certain respects. Another anniversary we'd rather forget.

Pearson has said his priority is recruiting centre backs. On this interview, Lansdown talks about the failure to recruit decent CBs as the key reason for relegation - let’s hope he remembers that and supports Pearson on his wish.

Holding on to Bikey may have helped in that season but lack of finance again.

Agree 100%. I posted a few weeks ago the majority of the world's population is right handed and therefore right footed. Most sports teams are therefore stronger on their right than their left. This season, the majority of goals conceded by City have been with the opponents breaking down their left, City's right and putting a cross over.

As you say a right back is our priority.
