Blackpool at home 33 years ago today

Same day as the tragic advents that played out in Sheffield 

can still remember the Blackpool fans with blow up towers running up and down in the open end 

we lost 2 1 and the hearing what was happening in Sheffield on the way home on the radio

Never forget walking off the pitch at the Imperial Ground and asking what the s ore was, and being told what was going on.  Awful day for football, much, much worse day for those families and friends who didn’t return, and also those scarred by the events that day.

What struck me was that news filtered out slowly. On the radio  "Kick off is delayed due to a disturbance in the crowd" Whereas TV was showing what was happening.

I also remember that on the Monday morning at work, no one mentioned it, I think due more to shock than apathy.

I was playing football for Fair Furlong that day. The old man, god rest his soul, picked me up and it was being reported on the radio. 

Thoughts with the families of all involved today.

Was working in Somerfield as a 17 year old. Finished shift and walked home , put TV on and sat in total silence with my parents trying to take in what we were witnessing , tears rolling down my cheeks.
