From the radio it was:

Obvious that 2 smallish pacy front men can't work without exceptionally good svc from the midfield. Also obvious that the ball wasn't being held up enough and was coming back at us too quick, result being too many of ours stuck in their half, they break and score.

What we need is a target/holding player in the front line - i.e. Lee Miller who set up Lita last night and could have scored one himself.

This gives Tinman a problem - either drop in-form, top scorer Lita or drop new signing Heffernan. I don't think they can both play together.

But Miller can't hold the ball up cause hes to weak, if he could why would Tinnion be serching for a new centre forward?

Its been a suprise to some that BT didn't start with Miller on Saturday. He's tall has good feet and can hold up the ball. His weakness is that he's too lightweight to be a good target man and lacks real pace.Maybe thats why he didn't get to start.

He did well when he came on last night and couldn't have done his starting chances this Saturday any harm.To accomodate Miller,Heffernan would have to warm the bench. You can't drop a man whose got two goals in two games.

I don't know....but I agree that Miller should be playing up front with Anyinsah or Goodfellow on the left-wing(but Anyinsah or Goodfellow also given some freedom to fill the hole at times)....Murray on the right-wing....Orr and Doherty in midfield....I don't know who would play up front with Miller for me....it's a free-for-all because Heffernan,Lita,Gillespie and Roberts seem to be fairly similar standard....but the main problems were not having a target-man or anybody on the left flank....

Managers are paid to manage problems! Repeating something I mentioned yesterday, the defenition of madness, when you are a manager is doing the same things , the same way, but expecting a different result to occur the next time !

If we had won the first 2 games 3-0 then the manager's job is easy. It's at times like this he earns his money. It was always going to be the problem - keeping all the forwards happy - and he can't. Lita has scored 2 in 2 games, but we haven't won a match yet. If he dropped him ( I'm not saying he should ) and we won the next 4 would that be bad management? He has to do what's right for the team as a whole, even if it means upsetting individual players.

What's wrong with Miller and Roberts? Everybody was crying out for this last season.

Let Heffernan sit on the bench and think about what he wants from his city career for a bit.

About time our most experienced striker was given a chance to carry on from where he left off last season.

I know he's welsh, he's unpredictable, he flaps sometimes and YOU (yes you there, smirking) don't like him, but still worth a shot as we are paying his wages to score goals and he does do this on a fairly regular basis when played as a striker.

Just a thought :D

The thing that annoys me about Christian is that he has the sudden turn of pace to play on the defenders shoulders but he craves the ball so much that he never does play as this type of striker....he drifts about and comes deeper to get hold of the ball without really doing much with it when really he should be further up the pitch looking to turn defenders or making runs OFF THE BALL from those deeper positions to get in behind the target-man....but Christian does not do this....he seems to crave wanting to get hold of the ball which doesn't suit his attributes as much....

Like the goal Christian scored against Hartlepool, thats what Christian can do,DW and FB were urging him to make more runs off the ball rather than on the ball,I agree with what DW said-Christian can be a 20+goals-a-season striker if he really wants to be,but I don't think he has it mentally....he always craves having the ball at his feet(even with his back to goal which is so annoying for a player with his attributes,he needs to learn to let the target-man act as the target so that he can work off the target-man)....

I don't think the problem is up front, although a change in personel would be nice as we have 5 strikers at the club. It could be that there are problems in midfield where there is no width due to our formation and also some players haven't got the pace any more to be able to perform. Tinnion only had half a preseason. I understand that he wanted to have a look properly from the dugout but he surely missed out on basic fitness work.

Tinnion is as fit as a fiddle still but it doesn't take Einstein to work out that as you get older you lose sharpness....the problems are that the three midfielders are playing with freedom and are narrow instead of zonally wider and more stretched....and the biggest problem is that we have Murray on the right flank but nobody on the left flank!!

Yeah good idea neo drop Lita after all he has only scored in every league game he has started in.

If you are going to try someone instead of Heffernan give Gillespie a go.

Thanks, I thought it was good too, glad you agree :D

Lita does deserve to start FOR NOW as he is the only league scorer for Bristol City this term.

The fact he contributes nothing else on the pitch has been countered by his goals FOR NOW.

When he stops scoring every game, even every 2 or 3 games, is it alright with you if I want to play Roberts up-front then?

I think everybody is well aware that you don't like him. I wonder, if he does get a start, is your dislike for him that much that you would want him to fail?
