I know that every expert says the basis of a successful team is a strong defence but as I recall the aim of the game is actually to score goals. Would be interested to know the fans opinion. It makes the interest in Wells carry more water - if you’ve scored one in five clearly there’s a problem up top. If I’m honest, it’d worry me. It’s more difficult to score goals than anything else in the game, and when they do start conceding (and they will) it’s how they react - do they actually have goals in them? Forward options are Parrott (not set world alight in loan spells), Evans (past best), Maguire (not prolific) and Jakubsen (1 in 4). You may notice in Tableau I’ve reverted to Wyscout XG values, but use XG Data’s “assist player data” OT their XG values where Wyscout haven’t counted a shot. It could be both, depends how you want to interpret it e.g. our strikers are doing better than our xG would usually expect but I would also say it's not meaningless it's just not definitive.
