Bigger it has got the shitter it has got. Can barely stomach one these days. Always the way.

I remember ordering a couple of a gallons of scrumpy in the late 80s or early 90s from a lad in work who came from Cheddar. I think he sourced them direct from a farm. I could barely stomach that either. In fact, I think the fumes were enough to get me drunk. I still shudder recalling the experience. Thanks Phil B.

Just selling the cider then not a sponsorship, as was about to think “wrong club there lads!”!

Good to see them flogging some of the not so good stuff to them as well!

Is this unique or do Thatchers supply to others?

Why?
They’ve got bigger but as far as I know they haven’t changed the recipe?!

Recipe changed with the design alterations on cans (more filled out with artificial stuff and sugars). Also it isn’t necessarily the ‘recipe’ changing which can reduce a ciders quality but the process becoming increasingly commercialised and hurried to meet demand.

Loves Ched!!

However, my usual is Thatchers Katy. I'm counting down to 5:30 this evening where I'll have my first cold bottle of Katy. It won't touch the sides!

Katy is my favourite too although can’t drink too many! Rascal is the best session cider I think.

Taunton Cider is superb and the best around IMHO.

eons ago there was an offy on the way to brean down farmers tavern which sold local scrumpy, didnt taste like cider, had to chew the lumps, blew your brains out on a couple of pints and left you in no mans land next day. proper cider

I can still buy a gallon for less than a tenner at my closest farm producer. And it’s certainly different from the fizzy filtered bottled stuff that even the local makers produce.
