Watching Switzerland Vs New Zealand and Jonathan Pearce has just managed to get his City mention in as always.
Good work from JP.

New Zealand bossing the game but need to score or go out.

Co hosts could go out as Norway are 3-0 up after 31 mins

Nice to hear JP getting his Bristol City reference in his commentary today in the Switzerland v New Zealand game

Yes, he's just been  bigging up the set-up and direction at Ashton Gate in general.

Nice piece on England's training base and the facilities for the players but making bracelets! Are they 6 year olds? Will they be picking petal's off the rose bushes to make their own perfume?

Careful Roy - you’ll be accused of being a sexist, chauvinistic pig.

Jonathan at his best never missing an opportunity to remind everyone that Bristol City are back in the WSL. He's now even suggesting players and that City should look at New Zealand's Jacqui Hand who plays for Aland in the Finnish league.

I wonder if fans of other clubs pick up on the fact the JP always get City mentions in?

I caught up on all the highlights yesterday. Thoroughly enjoyable. Also interesting to see how much more physical the women's game has become, with more use of longer passes, crossing for headers, etc. Some really, really horrible challenges, though. And the standard of goalkeeping is still pretty poor.

Japan stuffing Spain 3-0. Spain put out their strongest side and have had over 70% possession but lack punch. The ball has rarely been in Japan's penalty box and the keeper hasn't had to make, a, save. Japan made 5 changes but have been patient in defence and have hit Spain on the break. Impressively they have looked cool and calm in front of goal.

Japan scored some quality goals too. A statement win and one that will see the Japanese into the knockouts against the uncertain Norweigans. Dark horses? The Spanish, already qualified before the kick-off, will see Switzerland but will be stinging from that result.

Japan played their trademark style of football - it's like battling a swarm of wasps, what with the workrate and cohesive interplay. Perhaps the best team performance this tournament.

Fantastic bit of skill / footwork and shot for that first goal in the Germany vs Colombia game as well. If that'd been in one of our games we'd have been talking about it for weeks!

Here it is for those who haven't seen it: https://streamin.me/v/baccf756. She's only 18 as well!

I think it was Brazil's third goal in one of their games was a thing of true wonder

Not sure about that but i think there's a debate to be had about the size of the goal. The players ability to beat the keeper from just about anywhere can't just be about lack of technique or training.

Maybe it's just part of the women's game?

As opposed to us wondering why the keeper can't get to something we would expect a male keeper to.

Funnily enough, we had that same discussion. The average male GK must be well north of 6'2" (185cm in new money), whereas female GKs are nowhere near that. So why is the net the same size? Having said that, there haven't been that many goals.

It was a decision of the women to play same dimensions as men.

The Beautiful Game.

Equality is prime topic and this might just prove it, even if it is a tad coarse. It's the same for both.

The old '8 by 8'. First stated in the Laws of the Game in 1863, and they've not changed size since the invention of the crossbar in 1865. It's the same for both.
