RoystonFoote'snephew
Jonathan at his best never missing an opportunity to remind everyone that Bristol City are back in the WSL. He's now even suggesting players and that City should look at New Zealand's Jacqui Hand who plays for Aland in the Finnish league.
RoystonFoote'snephew
Nice piece on England's training base and the facilities for the players but making bracelets! Are they 6 year olds? Will they be picking petal's off the rose bushes to make their own perfume?

Super
Without doubt this is the worst game I have ever watched. Nz v Switzerland. Seen better under 10's games! Awful.

Markthehorn
Wonder how much interest there will be from the locals now one of the hosts are out? Knocked out on 4 points too. Pretty gutting for New Zealand.
Erithacus
Columbia gaining a reputation for the Dark Arts, as the Germans are now finding out. But has Caicedo just scored the goal of the tournament? You'd pay good money to see that.

SecretSam
I caught up on all the highlights yesterday. Thoroughly enjoyable. Also interesting to see how much more physical the women's game has become, with more use of longer passes, crossing for headers, etc. Some really, really horrible challenges, though. And the standard of goalkeeping is still pretty poor.
RoystonFoote'snephew
Japan stuffing Spain 3-0. Spain put out their strongest side and have had over 70% possession but lack punch. The ball has rarely been in Japan's penalty box and the keeper hasn't had to make, a, save. Japan made 5 changes but have been patient in defence and have hit Spain on the break. Impressively they have looked cool and calm in front of goal.
RoystonFoote'snephew
Japan beat Spain 4-0. It's the first time Japan have beaten Spain and It is Spain's heaviest defeat in 11 years. The Japanese keeper didn't have to make a save all game.
Erithacus
Japan scored some quality goals too. A statement win and one that will see the Japanese into the knockouts against the uncertain Norweigans. Dark horses? The Spanish, already qualified before the kick-off, will see Switzerland but will be stinging from that result. Japan played their trademark style of football - it's like battling a swarm of wasps, what with the workrate and cohesive interplay. Perhaps the best team performance this tournament.

If that'd been in one of our games we'd have been talking about it for weeks! Here it is for those who haven't seen it: https://streamin.me/v/baccf756. She's only 18 as well! Not sure about that but i think there's a debate to be had about the size of the goal. The players ability to beat the keeper from just about anywhere can't just be about lack of technique or training. Maybe it's just part of the women's game? As opposed to us wondering why the keeper can't get to something we would expect a male keeper to.

The average male GK must be well north of 6'2" (185cm in new money), whereas female GKs are nowhere near that. So why is the net the same size? Having said that, there haven't been that many goals.
